Im thinking of ordering a new keyboard to go with the mouse to complete my set up

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-077-RA&tool=3

Are these any good? Or anything around that price range that would be better?

If i order today ill have it arrive tomorrow as i have a day off :)

Thanks

Im currently using an old dell keyboard so anything will be better, are these keyboards worth the price as a gamer?

Yes mechanical keyboards are worth it.

The main difference you want to look at are they switch types rather then the model of keyboard (although some are obviously constructed better than others). See Here for the different switch types (near the bottom of the page). Decide which one sounds like the type of feel you like from a keyboard and obviously if you can try them out in a shop.

I have the Gigabyte Osmium myself which is a red switch keyboard and i love it.

Looks like US layout. I couldn't live with it myself.

It's Razer. I don't personally own any of their gear, some love it some hate it. One thing for sure, avoid Roccat, had too many problems with them.

It's expensive for a mechanical non-backlit keyboard. Other choices would be the MK-50, Corsair K60, Steelseries 6GV2 Thermaltake Mecka. I would recommend MX Red / MX Black / MX Brown for mostly gaming, MX Brown / MX Blue for mostly typing. MX Brown are 'in the middle', and feel more like the regular keyboard type of actuation. So less alienating than the linear MX switches, and less noisy than MX blues.

It's blue MX switches. They are the 'clickety' type, noisy and with more stiffness than the regular Red / Brown keys. Best you try for yourself tbh. Noise is subjective, I prefer quiet.

It's not backlit.

It will look good with your Deathadder.

From readibg the link provided i think red keys are what would suit me better, hmm maybe this isnt a good item to just impulse buy before having a proper look? Ill have alook at your suggestions now :)

Keyboard choice is totally down to the user and what you find comfortable.
Personally I can't use mechanical keyboards because the keys are too high and its horrible to type on, I can only type on either chiclet keyboards or low profile keyboards. I currently use a cheap £10 chicklet because its comfortable, but looking for an alternative chicklet style board.

The MK-85 and the Osmium are both recommended a lot. The Osmium does have a USB3 port as well as macro keys (in a pretty stupid place mind you) and is blue backlit instead of orange. The Osmium isn't currently in stock though :)

True, I found key travel longer. Takes a while to adjust. I'm also using a Illuminated Keyboard at work, so the contrast is quite big. But I got used to it pretty quickly.

Maybe have a look at the razer deathstalker, its got low profile keys :)

I can vouch for the BlackWidow - fantastic keyboard. Well built, just like all the other Razer products I've used, I can type much faster on it than on any other keyboard I've used, it is just perfect for me!

one thing though, i seem to now get dipping sound in all games ive tried since installing the kboard, i havent plugged in the 2 audio jacks as i dont need them

any ideas

thanks

I use the Steelseries 7G with my DA and feel its like a perfect combination. I love the simplicity of the 7G. The 6Gv2 however is a great alternative if you don't want the wrist rest and a couple of extra USB ports of your keyboard.
