Both companies have given me very similar quotes however the guy i spoke to at greenlight said they would happily allow me to add a remap or other small modifications during the policy without an admin fee or increase in premium, just as long as i let them know about it!

Greenlight is £13 more expensive (£488 vs £475) but for the modification allowance im thinking of going with them

Does anyone have any experiences of either company?

I have called a lot of places at these two + premium choice are the cheapest but premium choices website puts me off as none of the links seem to work and its hard to find out any concrete info about their policies!

Greenlight, on the basis that AF have been ********* both times I have called them. Unfortunately, greenlight won't cover e36 at all, sucks for me.

AF screwed me this year on insurance quotes, and greenlight gave me the best price, and also said the same to me as they did you, and being able to add thing with no insurance hike sounds good to me

Can you ask them who their underwriter for your policy is? I'm with GL but have been informed that the underwriter they used for my policy have a reputation for being difficult, so might be worth knowing.

Both AF and Greenlight policies i have had are underwritten MarkusStudy

I think i am swaying towards GL because of the modification thing. I have always thought about trying a stage 1 remap (car is a MKII Octy VRS) and if i can do that with no extra increase in insurance that would be brilliant.

excess is £250 on GL compared with £300 on AF as well so that is another bonus. I think AF offer better legal cover though.

I think i am over thinking this :/

Greenlight reneged on a recovery policy or something that was part of his insurance when my dad used them ending up with him having to pay recovery fees that were supposedly covered in the insurance contract (not sure if this is in anyway related to the underwriter aspect).

I've tried to get quotes from AF in the past and didn't get the best of experience with them but never actually used them.

Total thread hijack, but anyone have experience with extending limited mileage cover with GL/MarkerStudy?

Had my policy limited to 4k miles based on previous mileage but my usage has changed a bit and might need to increase it to 6-7k. Doubt anyone except GL can answer but thought I'd put it out there.

I'm Greenlight, took out a new policy with them in January and got discount through Cliosport. Sky Insurance were slightly cheaper but Neil at Greenlight managed to beat that price and will allow me up to 30bhp extra without any extra cost. Definitely Greenlight!

im with GL

adrian flux called me  strangely enough hunting for a quote

i gave my details and their response was:

yes mr o'neill. we can quote you on your highly modified car. this is no problem at all.
they then persisted in telling me i had to buy now and put massive pressure on me.

i was a bit taken aback by it in honesty. after ten minutes of saying i had to wait until i was paid before i could afford to pay for the policy and them blatantly ignoring this crucial point, they then told me that they werent going to be able to quote that cheap again.

after much fussing around, they sent me a quote via email and text proclaiming that the policy they had just pestered me about was in fact a telematics policy.

this was in very very small print.

there was no mention of this at any point throughout the telephone conversation.

of course it makes perfect sense that i would want a box in my vehicle. regardless of their boxes apparently not monitoring driver behaviour.

what specialist performance car insurer thinks that tracking their policy holders who have modified and/or exotic vehicles is a good idea? nobody in their right mind is going to want this.

so i went with greenlight for a second year. and it cost me £4 more.

they covered my current mods and also added mods i have planned at no additional cost.

yes, i did it last year.
just told them i wanted to go from 8k to 12k and they charged me £40

no big deal tbh and i ended up only doing 10K.

in honesty, get them to prove it,
for all they know you could do 40k of track mileage each year where your road policy would not cover you anyway, depends how ethically you want to play it.

Cool, doesn't sound too bad. Had you signed a limited mileage declaration? I had to send in a form with a declaration of my current mileage on.

Both my mum and dad are with AF on a Corsa and TVR and they seem to be pretty happy with them.

I try AF every year on the 200, however they never manage to quite get the quote down low enough unfortunately so I have stuck with Sky.

Went with GL in the end. turns out the quote they gave me included their extra legal cover plus no claims protection so just went with them. :)

Hopefully they will be ok. Well, hopefully i will never have to use them!

The one downside of this is that i am now going to be incredibly tempted to give the car a stage 1 remap.....in fact the guy i spoke to at GL encouraged it!

Adrian Flux are a nightmare, pressure sales and a stupid amount of spam mail and I have only ever called them once.

The week after I asked them for a quote, I was called every day :/

Well i've been with adrian flux for last 6 years, 5 years on a modded e36 325i which was the cheapest by far and the last year on a 02 v70 t5. Renewal was high on the v70, got quotes on comparison sites, and they matched them. Never had a trouble with them, even when I had a claim 5-6 years ago, was sorted out within days. But i've also heard that they can be a nightmare to deal with.

My other cheapest quote was with kwikfit, and I can't stand them so stayed with AF. One thing that annoys me is the admin fee they charge, seems extortionate for a 3 minute phone call!!

In fairness the guy at the other end with Adrian Flux was quite nice and helpful and not overly pushy. It was annoying that he kept saying the quote couldnt be saved and that he would have to call me back though.

GL just seemed the better overall policy at this point for me though.

Actually i just read the last Adrian Flux quote they emailed me and it said includes: telematics /telematic box !!!!

Lol, he didnt mention this at all on the phone.

The initial phone call I can understand them trying to hard sell, but to ring me every day for a week after, getting worked up telling me I won't beat their quote and them saying "I can only do you this price for today"

I explained every day that they said that yesterday and they are still nearly a ton more than Admiral in any case, they stopped after a week but I made a mental note to never speak to the **** wits again.
