Canon event happening on march 22nd

Does the Canon 100D spell the end of the Canon M?

Early days but the M is absolutely dreadful. If I'd bought one I'd have sold it on with a month or stamped on it. I've had more than a good play with it and nothing about it is good or easy to use.

This 100D interests me. My wife used to use out old 1000D a lot and as I upgraded and the bodies got more expensive she stopped using them. This would be perfect for her once the price comes down.

Looking forward to trying one.

Sounds like maybe they've taken the Hybrid sensor in the 650d and improved on it... Wonder how much better it will be!

when Canon say a new sensor that doesn't mean that performance is changed at all. The EOS-M has a new sensor with hybrid PDAF system, but the sensor performance is identical to all the other Canon 18MP crop sensors.

I doubt this 100D has a sensor any different, but would hope to be wrong.

Yeah I suspect that the image quality itself may be the same. The page for the 100d lists the sensor as •18 Megapixel Hybrid CMOS AF II sensor. whereas the page for the 700d simply lists it as •18 Megapixel Hybrid CMOS AF sensor.

Obviously it might just be a mistake on the page and hopefully the 700d would have the new sensor too but if anything has changed in the new sensor it will be the speed/effectiveness of the hybrid phase detection. It'll be interesting to see if it has improved much :) If it hasn't then I'll be curious to see what exactly is different about it lol
