Buy a 680 now? or wait?

I use/like cuda so would have to stick with nvidia only or I would pick up a 7970.

If you want CUDA performance, a 680 isn't a good choice anyway. Compute performance on the 6 series isn't great. I would be surprised if the 560Ti's CUDA performance wasn't better than the 680's.

You could get a 7950 and put the 560Ti in another slot to use for CUDA stuff.

No point comparing offer prices with non offer prices!

Buy the cheapest reference card and stick a 3rd party cooler on it which will be better at cooling and quieter.

I'm comparing non offer prices form two weeks ago.

This.

Keep an eye out for the weekly deals or Google can be your friend :)

Which I do, just doing a google check shows the same card goes for $460 stateside. Unfortunately we're on the wrong side of the pond for good component prices.

Never used NO COMPETITOR MENTIONING! NO COMPETITOR LINKING!!

Hey you get banned for posting about scan prices so best you edit that if you don't want banning.

plus they have bad customer services anyway also they just cancelled my order lol

I just saw the AMD and Nvidia GPU at overclockersuk, and yes the prices are increasing a bit, weeks ago the AMD 7970 was available for 299£

The recent price increases on cards is likely down to the weak Sterling, effectively increasing all of OCUK's buy prices as they almost certainly buy the majority of their products in USD and sell in GBP.

The 670 is so close to the 680 (5%-10% difference) I would be looking at one of those. Don't forget AMD though, as the 7950 is faster in most games than a 670 and the 7970 is faster in most games than a 680.

Both have pluses and minuses but the wise buy is the 7950.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795F3G2M) with FREE FARCRY3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs & 20% off MOH Warfighter PC Games £229.99
Total : £240.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

This card is getting rave reviews and I can understand why. It is cool and quiet and delivers performance well.

and for Nvidia:

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
Total : £330.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Also a great card and EVGA have the best reputation for any RMA issues. As an Nvidia fan, I would be looking at that HIS 7950 (sorry to say fellow fans), purely on the price to performance.

wow the price difference nowadays is mental....AMD is where the bang for buck is now.

H guys

Just to give you the pricing issues from my perspective working for a manufacturer. A lot of the price rises in the last 2-3 weeks are to do with the currency fluctuations. 3 weeks ago we were looking at the £ buying 1.58/1.6 $ now we stand at the £ buying 1.50/1.52 $. It takes time for this pricing it hit the market as stock sells through but now you are seeing the full effect of this as prices have risen.

Ben

I havent read all the posts but cant you just get a second hand 670 thats still in warranty

I cant even mention 2nd hand prices because my post was removed and I got a warning last time. I have a second hand EVGA 670 and saved loads on paying full price - box, warranty etc all good. Its overclocked past 680 speeds

Yes that's right. OcUK should pay for this forum to be run and then let you advertise (indirectly) competitors. :D
