Why is my Titan idling at 55c?

Yesterday is was at 34c now it at 55c? I hooked up my new monitor. Could the 144hz be the reason?

Edit: Wow that's weird. The min I turned off 144hz to 60hz the temps are going down? Why would going 144hz bring temps up so much? If my temps do that at 144hz thank god I bought a antec spot cool 80. I'm gonna install that tomorrow and blow that sucker right into the Titan. I think that would help.

What's the GPU usage at when on 144Hz vs 60Hz? Never noticed my idle temps higher at 120Hz (sli ref 670s at about 28-32c).

Hm what %? My top card sits at 0% if I'm not moving anything (mouse/etc..) with a bunch of stuff open and goes between 1-14% if I'm looking at websites or reading emails etc.. I doubt 144Hz would differ too much from 120Hz.

I went to 120hz and the temps went up to 43c. I guess that's better then 55c to 60c. I hope the spot cool 80 works at bring down temps.

I hear theres a way to set gaming to a 144hz and when browsing it goes auto to 60hz? I have no idea how to do that though?

edit: I guess I could manually set 144hz when gaming and set fan profiles.

Seems strange, my old 7970 used to ramp up the idle temp up a little bit when the monitor was running in 144hz mode but my Titan stays the same idle temps around 30c running both 120hz & 144hz refresh rates.

When I uninstalled and it's still doing the same thing? The GPU when in 144hz goes up in use???? I might have to live with it unless someone knows why it's doing this?

Does it do it in any specific applications? Try close everything so you just have the desktop and w/e monitoring program you use for GPU temps/usage.

I have no apps running. all I have running is my antivirus. and I stopped that and it's still doing the same? maybe it's my gpu?

I'll ask dom in the EVGA section.

As you can see yes, my idle clocks when in 144hz is high and temps are too?

I've uninstall the drivers many times and it's still the same? I've also manually deleted all the nividia drivers and did a fresh install and no change? It must be a bug like tommy said. who knows???

I wonder is it the monitor or the GPU at fault here? I mean 60hz is totally fine, no issues at all. It's when I go 144hzz. This is a b-grade monitor. I wonder if the monitor is messed up??? I'm just guessing right now, but it might be the asus 144hz at fault??

I have to be somewhere right now. I'll check when I get back. I also left Dom from EVGA a post in his thread.

640Mhz seems like a high idle clock? Not sure what the titans idle that though but it seems higher than I'd expect. I don't see it being the monitor as that is just told what to display, it doesn't ask the card or anything to do work.

Right I see the problem.

You've got two monitors plugged in. Disable the other one, enable 144 Hz on the ASUS. Ta-da.

If you want to run duel monitors it needs higher clock speed to drive them which will increase temperatures. Not a lot you can do about it.

Too much snow outside. anyways....when Idle the clocks are normal when in 60hz. their at 300mhz. on that pic their over 600mhz?

I'll see what dominik says from EVGA, before doing anything. Unless someone has the reason why it's doing what it's doing?
