Hallo!
I am planning to change my gigabyte 7950 to a evga 680.Never had a nvidia card before so i want to know a honest opinion if its worth changing. The 7950 is falling hard(coil whine plus screen tearing in league of legends with hud animations on).Bought it from a london based shop wich i wont name it but i was sceptical over their products after i have changed 3 cards and 1 motherboard from them due to different failures.Thank you.

The 680 is faster but not warranted over the price. As an Nvidia fan, I don't believe it is a worthy swap and especially at the price of a 680.

The 670 is cheaper but this is more of a side step than an upgrade and the 7950 is faster in some games and the 670 is faster in others.

If you are having problems, maybe people can help here?

Are you using anything to overclock your 7950?

Are you using vsync which should remove all screen tear?

When you bought it from the shop, was it sold as new or used?

If you keep having problems from the same place (especially when it's different components that are failing), it may be that they are selling refurbed or lower grade items as new.

I can speak to this from experience. I had a 680 which was a beast... it overclocked on stock volts further than the mass majority of other 680s. I bought a 7950 and it was only 8-15% slower than the 680.

Not worth it I'd say.

now it runs on stock. i do suspect the guys on selling bad stuff and btw the shop is yoyotech. It makes no difference overclocked or stock there is some tearing with or without vsync.Think is a vram problem.Atm it is watercooled the temps are ok but i wont get an RMA for sure.Tried all the possible drivers still same thing.

Tearing is usualy a sign of more fps than the monitors refresh rate. Even if you swapped over, you would still get tearing in those games you currently have it.

It shows as a line across the middle of the screen?

Show me a video of it happening plox OP. Sounds to me like either vsync isn't running or you're possible using un-official overclocking method which can cause tearing when 2d/3d clocks change.

I wonder why gamers pay more when you can pay less for nearly the same outcome?. There must be more to it than that?.

Of course there is.

Past history plays a big part and other things like PhysX/Cuda can be reasons for paying more. 'Worth it' is down to the individual.
