10 out of 10 for effort !!!!!!!!!

Will they have somehow checked for alcohol?

Doctors at the receiving hospital are not allowed to take blood for alcohol as it is not admissible in a Court of Law. It has to be taken by a Police Surgeon, and we only allow that once the patient is stable (within a few hours). Even then until the patient consents to have the blood tested for alcohol levels it cannot be tested. However if they refuse to have it tested it is assumed in a Court of Law that they were under the influence.

So in a nutshell yes, he will be tested for alcohol :D

However given how serious the BBC made his condition seem, it might not have been taken soon enough?

There is a small ramp in the hedge:

That is small. I'd bet a fair-sized amount of money that they couldn't have been under the speed limit and still got enough height and length to almost clear the two other cars them embed their car in the wall.

Says a lot for their car that they didn't die on impact.

10/10 for effort potentially writing off 2 expensive cars a house and your own motor in one go

Imagine that's going to be a fun one for his insurance co to sort out

Yes, that's why on a floodplains you'll struggle to get insurance etc as most houses are CatC, but you can just buy it back for peanuts so most people do. I'm not sure how the Blitz has an effect on this atm

Just as I thought;)

But seriously the damage to the house is pretty intense. I guess those walls will take a rebuild but will the entire thing need demolishing?

Insurance bill rising.

There will be a fair whack involved with a good chunk of cost being absorbed just in putting up scaffolding / protection, making safe then fully assessing the building itself. Had it landed in the middle of the facade it'd be much less of an issue than going through the corner like that. Would be surprised if there isn't serious structural damage plus the neighbours property will be impacted too. If so it'll be a massive bill - more than just putting the building up afresh i'd bet.
