Company is cancelling Mobiles & charging £300 to keep number.

I would go the the hassle of getting a new number simple and to make sure that I got no business calls on it and wouldn't give the new number to work

We supply our own phones but are given a strictly enforced "allowance" (all recorded as benefits for tax etc)

The company benefited from this by getting cheap SIM only deals, not having to arrange backup phones and having 24/7 access to us.

I've not worked out who has got the best deal out of the arrangement over the years, it's just having to stump up £300 to buy the PAC doesn't seem right

After all you can get "full monty" SIMS for £140 per year !

Ahh I see so you will have been taxed on it. No chance I'd pay 300 in that situation then :p. Harsh lesson though, never let companies hijack your phone.

Get a new number text the people you can then phone the remainder.

Yup, just a bit ***** that the company (a big one) would try and skin us for £300

What mobile phone? I don't have one anymore ! Remember, you cancelled it ......

It seems so shabby especially as you say it's a big co iirc you said you were agency and only got a sim rather than a phone and sim could it be that the big company aren't geared up for just sim and are treating you as if you had a phone, if not and I'm sure you have spoken to people further up the line for verification I would watch out for your continuing employment because grabbing £300 back off your work force sounds desperate if its not some greedy smalltimer lining his own pocket.

Just have a new number. I changed mobile number for the first time in about 9 years at the end of last year. The 2 contracts/numbers overlapped by about 6 weeks. I told eveyone the new number and left the old one at home on silent. After a few days, no one rang the old one.
