kip with hairdryer/fanheater?

try it tonight chaps.

very cozy

No, I don't want to burn alive in my sleep.

The op is the sort of person who makes the front page of BBC news, after burning down a house and killing several people inside.

I hear putting a toaster in the bath helps keep the water warm......*

*dont do this.

Heat the bed with a heater before getting in, sure. Leaving it on or leaving a hairdyer on... really not worth the risk of starting a fire.

I know we are currently in an extended winter, but honestly are we a bunch of OAPs or something?

OP - just use an electric blanket. They're not 100% safe, but a damn sight safer than a hair dryer running past its duty cycle. You could even just take a hot water bottle to bed with you. Have heating on a thermostat, but remember that body temperature is several degrees below room temp when asleep.

For the rest of the OcUK population under the age of 70, carry on as normal :p

Personally I'll start moaning when it's too hot outside like in August when nighttime temps are often 20C and opening the window isn't enough.

As freezing cold it gets here and how tempted I get to leave the fan heater on, I wouldn't sleep knowing that it's a potential fire risk.

It baffles me that someone could sleep with a hairdryer on!

I'm one of those people who is scared of plugging in too many appliances into a power strip, fearing the socket will overload and catch fire :D

I do leave things on standby like a normal person though.

No fan heater or hairdryer as heat isn't something im aiming for but a room fan or tumble dryer will send me to sleep in no time, the constant whirling nods me off in no time. When i was younger i slept with a fan 2 to 3 inches from my face, weird i know but it worked for me :D

personally I prefer the soothing sound of a intel HSF at a reasonable rpm

as for warmth I guess the OP has never experienced the fantastic heat output that a Prescott based rig would put out,

fond memories of having a p4 rig replace my central heating system back in the day :)

You're not related to Tony Williams are you?

If not, you need to have a word about the three easy ways to set fire to your house.

who here kips, or knows someone who kips with a hairdryer or fanheater?

ive been doing it for years, as have my brother and mother?

just wondering if this is a common thing??

its a combination of heat and noise for me. drowns out all background noise and the numerous voices in my head. lol

Thats just plain wierd.

ive been doing it all my life.

im trained not to roll over and i sleep with a participial technique which reduces risk. :)

sometimes ill put the hairdryer on my chair so its no where near pillow and quilts.

need to invest in a new fan heater with 3 heat settings and a cold setting to reduce ambient temperature long into the night.

when in school a teacher said that some people are comforted by noises from fans haridyers etc because it resembles the noise in the womb.

i like the fact it drowns out all background noise so its a single constant noise and noting else will grab my attention and wake me.

even the fire alarm :) lol
