anyone shunned comsole gaming for tablet gaming?

Have about 30 games on my iPad, and don't play any of them ever. If I want to game away from the main consoles then I'll play my vita.

The moment you start plugging tablets into the TV or connecting control pads to them you may as well be using a console in my opinion. :p

Yep, the tablet games that use a control pad are either ROMs or pretty average. The production value just isn't there and why would I deal with a cumbersome tablet + controller rather than a dedicated console with a massively superior library?

Pretty much my thoughts also. Since buying an iPad a few months ago the only games I've played on it for any length of time have been The Walking Dead, and GTA III, the majority of games designed specifically for Android and iOS are rubbish, and the ones that aren't rubbish are available on portable or home consoles anyway.

To kill 5 or 10 minutes when I'm out of the house then sure, but why anybody would completely discard console gaming for the watered down tripe which populates the majority of "mobile" gaming is beyond me.

I got in a load of trouble for plugging in my 42" TV, PS3 and 5.1 system on the train once, so since then I've started using my Galaxy Note for mobile gaming. :p

But no - tablets are never going to be able to compete for "proper" gaming - mainly because of the fact (as already mentioned) that using the controls means your fingers cover half the screen!!

^Agreed.

As a mobile device they are suitable handheld (if you like that sort of thing) - imo though nowhere near up to something like a Vita - but as a console? No chance.

Using my ipad loads but it's more to do with not having much on console atm I want to pay for. 69p on the App Store for some simple time killing fun or even free at times vs ££ on a console for a game I'm not sure about. The likes of the new GTA etc will see me using my console loads again.
