So, after an "incident" the other day I need to get one of my wheels repaired. I was going to take it to a local place, but they reckon they'll need to send it away for 3-4 days to be welded, which is a long time to be without it - has anyone else done similar damage and had it repaired? I'm guessing it's beyond a mobile guy and inadvisable to fill it, or am I just over-egging the damage?

I've never damaged an alloy before, so I'm a bit clueless :)

P.S. Apparently the rim protectors on PZeros are flippin' useless :D

F1 Alloys in Chester mate, best person for miles. I got mine all done there, speak to John, he's sound and he did my RX8 with a 2 year guarantee. If you go mobile, they'll fix, spray and the paint will be off in 6 months, waste of money (as are most of the mobile ones, alloys need dipping and doing properly). It needs to be stripped, fix, checked, prepped, poxy and sprayed and lacquered. Believe me, the guy is GOOD! At least give him a call... and speak to him even if you don't go there. He does a full service on all 4 alloys in whatever finish and calipers for £295 all in!!! I went custom dark pearl which flips in the sun...

You might wanna get that tyre checked or replaced as it's cut a chunk out, I assume you seen that?

Mine after respray:

Cheers - I'll drop him a line - the tyre is fine, there's just a small nick in the virtually non-existant rim protector.

I'm not sure I want to pay £295 when the other wheels are fine, but hopefully he can offer some advice/pricing anyway :)

Got it back from F1 Alliys today, got all 4 wheels stripped and re-done, and the callipers painted red to match the car (not because I think it's a Porsche ;-)). Took a fair while to get it done, but happy with the results:

Dropped it off on Wednesday, picked it up today. Would have probably been Friday but took longer to strip because they'd previously had some cosmetic fixes done, and I took up a few hours of his time with fixing and issue with the mondeo wheel on the Wednesday afternoon.

Wheels look brand new! Had to scroll up and check it was the same design wheel in your first pic because it looks so good

£295 inc. VAT - they have courtesy cars and courtesy wheels available too, although I didn't take them up on that as the TT isn't a daily driver so wasn't needed.

Good price but surely it shouldn't take 5 days? I got mine done after I bought my MR2 and the place did them in half a day. Fair enough they only had a few scuffs/scratches, but still..?

Nice and glad you didn't decide to change the colour of the wheels. Mine have been re-done in anthracite and I'd much prefer standard silver but hard to justify getting a set of perfect condition alloys repainted!

Very sweet. Yeah when I had mine done, dropped off Monday and got the car back Wednesday, depends how busy he is... he's been mad lately. Nice to see you got them all done ;-) Sweet!

If they're doing it in half a day or a day then it's just cosmetic touch up. These were stripped to bare metal (which means a day in an acid bath), then welded to fix the damage, then built back up again and baked - bit more involved than a cosmetic touch up :)

Normally I'd have gotten it back on the Friday, but like I said, he did me a favour on the Mondeo wheels which took him some time, and the previous cosmetic repairs meant it took longer to strip.

Ay, think i am going to ring these guys up. When they say they do a brake caliper 'refurbish' does that mean they take the caliper off and do it properly?
