Hi all,

I've finally got my HP ML110 G6 server up and running with Windows Server 2012 Essentials, however, I'd like to upgrade the Ram. It's currently only got 3GB and I'd like to upgrade it to at least 8GB.

I was just wondering whether it's worth using ECC ram or would Non-ECC ram be just as good? (I know Non-ECC ram is compatible).

Also, has anyone got any experience with what Non-ECC ram is stable in this server as I've read some people have been having issues with Corsair Ram.

I think it depends what you are doing with the box. If it's for a home/lab environment, go with the cheaper stuff.

If it's going to be an production box, stick with ECC.

I have mine with 4 x 4GB ECC sticks in for an ESXi 5.1 box and it works great.

(I used Kingston ECC RAM - KTH-PL313E/4G x 4 it wasn't expensive) :D

Be careful: the ML110 G7 doesn't accept non-ECC RAM I don't think - it won't post (there's some discussion of it here. It might not be the same for G6, but worth checking out.

Thanks for posting. The reason I bought the G6 over the G7 was because the G6 can use Non-ECC Ram whereas the G7 can't.
