Hey

Just wondering what you use to work out if you're getting a fair deal on your trade in value when you change cars?

Thanks

Edit : Can someone fix the title - stupid laptop!

How do you work out what a fair trade in price is for your car?

The closest indication you'll get is an up to date cap or glass's valuation but tbh it completely depends on the car you're trading in (and how easy it will be for them to move it on) and the car you're trading it against (how much money they've got in it).

People make the mistake of looking at what cars are advertised for online and thinking that's anywhere near it's trade value. You can use private asking price as a very rough guide then knock a suitable percentage off.....but that's pure guesswork when there are some guides that are at least based on something.

Parkers / what car etc will be miles off

Can anyone value a 2000 plate bora tdi sport 115 with 94k on the clock for me?

It's going against a 2012 swift sport with 7k on the clock.

Thanks :)

It's worth basically nothing to the dealer, what have they offered? As close to a grand as you can get I guess, but again it will depend what fat they've got in the car - it's worth a lot more than yours so you might even get more than what you'd get for it privately if you aren't asking for a discount on the other car

Go on Autotrader/Pistonheads and find a car that's similar to your own..

But as above, if it's going as part-ex with a dealer, it'll be worth peanuts whatever it is.

Thanks foxy ;)

They offered the car for 10750 instead of the 10999 it's up for, with its first service done. Car does however only have one month tax left.

Unreasonable? What says ocuk?

Well I didn't think it was much of a discount, however I don't have any other cars to compare it to really! Again, I only have access to parkers prices to see what these things are worth.

I'd like to know what they paid for it, given it was a recent buyback from a customer.

For the sake of £250 why not just sell it yourself and see if you get a better deal?

The free 'WhatCar' valuation reckons £1.5K

I paid for a online PX price (sure it was Glasses) and when I went to the main dealer the price I was offered was almost identical, just be very honest when inputting the information.

Always leave them with a bit of bait and your phone number. They will bite and call you within 48 hours with the line "I have spoke to the manager and managed to get you a better deal"

Bet you can save at least another £500.

If it doesn't work out, then fair duse. Deal with what you are happy with or leave and go else where.
