Ive just bought the Asus Xonar D2X which should arrive in a couple of days, when i was reading up on the net about Asus cards some people were suggesting that the stock drivers are not very good, what drivers are you using for your D2X ?

Also, should you install the drivers before the sound card ?

I'm using the stock drivers with mine and I dont find any issues with them. I upgraded from an X-Fi extreme gamer and there was a noticeable improvement in quality.

Sorry for semi-hijacking this thread, would a pair of Sennheiser PC350 SE gain full benefit from this sound card?

Thanks

D2X is a very good card, but like the PC350s, I would expect the PC350SEs to really need a headphone amp to get the best out of them. That's something the D2X doesn't have. Creative SB Z/Zx/ZxR, Asus Xonar Essence ST/STX have headphone amps. Xonar DG/DGX also does, but being a £20 card, can't compete with the others for sound quality.

Its installed, generally it was easy to install. One thing though, i wonder why Asus didn't include a molex to 4 pin floppy power connector ? I was lucky as my AX850 PSU had one, not everyone's PSU will have one though and that will lead to some head scratching lol. Just seems odd to leave it out as the sound card needs one.

I can't comment on the sound card itself as yet as ive not really tested it out.

Can anyone explain this slight issue, when i launch something the sound has a 10 second delay before the audio comes on, the video plays straight away but the sound doesn't come on till around 10 seconds after.

Ive managed to get it in one of the PCIe x1 slots so thats where its running from.
