Girl found dead in house with dogs 'out of control'

I'm sure I heard something on Sky News earlier about how she was eating a pie and they think that could be the reason the dogs went for her.

A friend of Jade said: "Jade was eating a meat pie when one of the dogs jumped up to try to snatch the pie. Jade moved it away from her mouth and the dog went for her throat. At least two of the other dogs joined in and started biting her legs."

Give over. Staffies are great dogs. I'm sick of people like you with your pre-judgemental attitude. Get it into your head that it's the idiots who own them that turn them violent.

I do get they can be nice dogs but why take the risk having something so strong and powerful in a family home.

My little dog is every bit as loving as the next dog but if he steppes out of line I can control him.

When will people understand that you cant **** with nature?

I mean we cant even stop humans murdering each other, greed is at an all time high, and people seriously think they can stop a dog from making a meal of their offspring?

Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that apparently two bullmastiffs were put down as well as the staffs. Bullmastiffs are twelve stone guard dogs - I'd be looking more at them.

What person in their right mind would send an individual in to a house alone knowing there would be a dog waiting to greet them? Moreso, what person in their right mind would enter said house except that for an innocent child?

this comment is totally irrelevant, we are not discussing 'what if' or 'who would'

999 times out of 1000 say, nothing would happen, the odds are also irrelevant,

what is relevant is that once again 'dangerous dogs' are responsible for the death of a child. and more important its staffies again.

they should be wiped from the face of the earth, along with all other 'domesticated' dangerous dogs.

What a load of XXXXX. Of course it's relevant. it's relevant enough to have made a difference if sensible advice had been considered or adhered too

Someone I know has a staffie, when it plays with me it tries to overpower me, it's playing but I get a feeling there's a dominance thing going on. It's scarily strong and I'm just glad I'm on it's good side.

I wouldn't own one myself, this one I know is very hyper and has bags of energy. I would hate to see one flip.

Why is it always Staffies though? When was the last time a pack of labradors went on a rampage?
Exactly,

It's stupid to ignore that certain breeds has been bred for hundreds of years to fight & kill.

Certain breeds are good hunters, some are loyal, some are gentle and some are aggressive.

Like humans all animals have a chance to turn in, with some breeds that chance is higher - coupled with the damage they could do amplifies the damage.

Show me a scientific paper that proves one breed is more dangerous than another........ untill then, everything on dangerous dogs is anecdotal.

A study on the American Pitbull terrier found the breed specific laws on it were not justified, as statistically, it was no more likely to cause injury than any other breed. Another study found dangerous breeds of dog contribute a minute fraction of dog related injuries admitted to A and E, and that the dangerous dogs act has had no effect on A and E admittance since the dangrous dogs act 1991 was created.

Anyone that doesn't like dogs is bound to make comments like "they should be wiped from the face of the earth". I have bull-breed dogs. They are well treated, well socialised and so much more than Labradors and spaniels. I wouldn't have any other breed of dog.

Common to many beliefs on here, this must make me a chav and a scumbag. However I can string a few sentences together, have a job and even share an interest in computing with you other "geeks" (just to throw in another label). Would I trust my dogs left alone with a child in the house? Hell no, I wouldn't want to put a child nor the dogs in that situation. Furthermore I wouldn't leave a child alone in a house with a Jack Russell. Oh wait, a child was reported to have been mauled by a little Jack Russell not too long ago.

The poor Staffs. One of the reasons they are so popular with every nasty scummer in the UK is the eagerness to please. Dogs are generally very submissive and want to please their master. If you want to turn a dog into a nasty piece of work then a Staff is perfect. Furthermore, they are not as big as Rotts and other 'potentially' dangerous dogs which means you only need to buy 2 tins of Pedigree Chum and can spend the rest of your benefits on Stella...The flipside is that Staffs also make great pets if brought as pups and raised like EVERY dog should be

Funny how for a dog that is apparently so hellbent on eating children due to it's very nature, that before they became fashionable amongst the underclass of our society they were widely regarded as one of the best family friendly and in particular child friendly dog breeds you can get.

While I am sure Staffies can be nice dogs I would never have them in a house with children in it. Too big and powerful to risk something going wrong. Just not worth the risk. Same breed keeps coming up in the news too.

Erm, Staffs are certainly not what I regard as "big dogs". Compact and powerful is more like it. Cane Corso's are big dogs. Bullmastiffs are big dogs. Staffs are not...
