A couple of weeks ago I accidently dropped my S3 and cracked the screen (Just cosmetic damage as it still worked fine), no biggie as it's insured through my bank and was going to post it away this week.

Just sent a text and just after I send it, my phone powered off and won't come back on at all, it's completely dead, no lights come on when charger is plugged in or vibrations like normal absolutely nothing at all.

The only thing I've done since the phone got dropped was to change from Omega to Revolution HD ROM.

Any ideas? I'm at an absolute loss as to what is going on.

As said, sounds like you have encountered the sudden death issue.

Contact the place where you got it from or Samsung themselves.

You might be lucky and the shop might just swap it as a faulty unit but with the screen cracked it wouldn't surprise me if they started trying to blame that saying when dropped it damaged internals...

Fingers crossed it wasn't CPW that you got it from, their CS it terrible from my experience.

When you try and power it on do you see red coming from the proximity sensor (not the notification LED) for a second or so? If so that's SDS.

I'm not sure what Samsung would say (if it is SDS) since the screen is broke, you'd probably be best claiming on insurance. Samsung can take ages swapping motherboards out anyway, so it'd probably be quicker too :).

Cheers for the replies!
I got the phone from an Orange store with my new contract just before Christmas so I'll take it to them and see what they say tomorrow. Fingers crossed they'll cover it under warranty but I can see them declining due to the screen, if they do then I'll just have to leave it with the insurance company to fix it :(

There's nothing at all, it's almost as if I'm trying to turn on a phone with no battery inside it.

A girl at work dropped hers, broke the screen and it worked for a while. Then like yours it just died.

I'd like to see how you get on with your phone then let her know.

Oh, apparently the proximity sensor doesn't activate when trying to turn on an SGS3 with SDS, that seems to be just the Note 2 SDS.

It's probably SDS, I'd just claim on insurance tbh.

When you do a claim get your times and dates clear in your head you only have 48 hours to report it in my bank. So basically your going to have to say you dropped it and the screen broke and it no longer turns on.

If you slip up you have a nice door stop.
