Best Value European Roaming

Hi,

My parents spend a lot of time in Spain, and their contract is up for renewal.

I'm looking for a UK network that would offer the following as an add on bundle or package:
- Free to receive calls in EU/Spain
- xx text messages free (or as part of the contract bundled messages)

O2 used to offer a service where you would pay £5 a month and you basically got this, but they don't appear to any more.

Suggestions?

I think Vodafone do a package that allows you you use your UK tariff abroad for a weekly fee

Just checked that out and it's £3 a day, so a bit too pricey for the amount of time they'll be out there.

Thanks, but I don't think that's what I need - it's not data allowance I need as they have wifi

They dropped it as it's extremely unprofitable to do this, it would only just about work with their roaming agreement with telefonica-ES.

I'd highly suggest they look at SIMO deals in spain, deals over there are a lot cheaper and it will likely be a better option (Spain bizarrely is in love with VOIP over mobile, 60% of smartphone users use it, most in europe by a 20% margin)

Vodafone is by far and away the best deal on a UK network, but as said, a sim only deal abroad is your better bet.

my understanding is that with EE for £5pcm you can use your phone with NO roaming charges!

o2 travel is not bad. If I remember correctly you pay around 50p per call connection then the rest of the call comes out of your inclusive UK minutes. So as long as you have the minutes you could be on the phone for an hour abroad and It will cost 50p.

I believe it comes free as standard on all o2 contracts.
