@OP, Do you have both? - what differences do you see?

Personally, i ditched FB a while ago. I got tired of all the pics that i had no interest in and if i want to speak to my friends, i call them or meet them.

I prefer Twitter personally. A nice, convenient way to keep up with the tech world more or less instantly. Quick and sharp, is a win in my book

It does, I often see "Promotional tweets", on my phone at least.

Not to mention the sheer amount of spam tweets/followers I see.

I use Facebook as a huge chat client and a great way of organising events with friends. I don't care about celebrities so I don't use Twitter.

One's useful, one isn't.

On one of them you tell lies to friends and on the other you tell the truth to strangers. I believe that's how it works.

They are totally different: different audiences, different content and content lifespan, different interactions, different content sharing, different purposes. There's more that's different than that is similar.
