What the average time that the FCO take to complete SC clearance? How long did it take you to be vetted are you a foreign national?

SC is a couple of months max I think, but not really sure.

DV is about 6 months.

Defence vetting took about six months for me too. Not a foreign national though.

DV took about 6 months and was redone every 5 years or so for me. (Dual national)

SC should be just a few weeks or a month afaik.

Am I getting paid for this?

Took me 4 weeks to gain SC, 5 months for DV. British national.

I used to work with a chap from NZ and we required SC for the job.

It took him about 3 months or so for it all to be processed, however this was at the start of 2012 where applications related to the Olympics were being prioritised over anyone else so it may not take quite that long.

Yeah, totally serious. It isn't for the likes of us, it has something to do with Nuclear Weapons and such. You hear it bandied about in CT sites when they say their sources have CTS clearance, but you know it's BS because those who are given it are only given it temporarily and it isn't public knowledge (subject to its own security clearance). I think I am right in saying that even the US President only has access to it when necessary.

Who decides when it is necessary is what the CT nuts should be asking!

There are lots of 'funny' clearances that you don't hear about over the standard SC/DV etc

Isn't that basically the SIOP, the joint Anglo-American battle plan for a nuclear war?

Not the kind of stuff I'd like a president or prime minister to ever need to be briefed on.

I have a Counter Terrorism Check already so hopefully the wait for SC isn't going to be that long.
