Wobble happening in steering wheel.

Just a question as I seem to have developed a rather noticeable "wobble" in the steering wheel that comes a little more noticeable at speed ( about 60) but can feel it starting from around 30.

Theirs no sounds coming from any of the wheels, braking seems okay, tread on the tire still looks even.

Im thinking it wouldn't be a balance. alignment issue as I assume it would be the tire wear that would be affected and not cause a wobble in the steering wheel?

Could it be a warped Brake disc?...I have a horrible though that when I try and drive home tonight of seeing the wheel overtaking me on the motorway.

Yea I have it booked in for the morning but its worrying when driving home.

How "vital" is that?...as in am I alright making the 30 mile drive home and a low speed?

In case you haven't picked up...I know very little about the mechanics of cars!

I was thinking could it be a slightly buckled Alloy?

Make sure you lug bolts or on nice and tight.

Then do whatever speed you want. It's not going to do anything. It'll just be an annoying wobble.

Nope nothing like that, was all fine in the snow, know my routes very well and any little manholes etc to avoid, nothing out of the norm to be honest.

I had the exact same problem recently: My thread which turned out to be a stuck brake pad on the front wheel. One pad had worn right down and the caliper had pushed it out too far for it to return, so it was sticking on the disc, which then warped as it got hotter ie. at speed and caused significant wobble on the steering wheel.

Just read your thread, I'm noticing it over all speeds now, and I did put my finger ot the Brake disc and it was close to scalding to touch with only a small bit of braking just before my drive way, im wondering if its a known thing ( your being a Ford as well), only place I could get it to in the morning is Kiwk Fit.

WOnder about how much Pads etc could cost?

So it turns out its a twisted tire! So no choice to take what they had in my size which are Falkens £240 for a pair....foook!

I have a similar vibration in the steering arm/wheel at high speed. Sometimes its distracting, sometimes it's barely noticable.

MOT is due next week so I'll ask if they'll have a look at it while checking everything else :)

Cant argue really, the tread was still good on them and those where the tire I got when I bought it new, 28k they did, would have bought the same brand in a heartbeat but they didnt stock them..Kooks I think is their name.

Does it come in at speed then go away when you get faster?

My old Focus used to wobble at 50'ish but went away at 70+ and turned out to be wheel balancing.

It just seems really inconsistent. Sometimes I can be doing 60-70 and it's smooth as a babys bum. Other days it's like riding on cobbles. Might depend on the temperature outside.

My route to work doesn't have many high speed sections so I don't really get to investigate
