Anyone scared of dying without leaving your mark in human history?

Something I've always worried about is living my life and dying without doing anything meaningful that benefits society in the long term.

Maybe I'm just crazy..

Also this is probably what goes through the minds of people just before they ascend a church tower with a sniper rifle, or walk into a shopping centre with a bomb strapped to them.

Unfortunately the only benefit to society most of us will be is for those who live off benefits from society.

You're not the only one.

I dream of making a mark in society if not, at least be reknown for something that people will talk about.

Probably why I'm working in food business, finding products I designed in the wild and people buying them gives me a kick.

Yes, and I'm surprised at how many that aren't ! If I fail to leave a mark, a legacy or anything else that anybody will remember 20 years from now, it seems like a waste. I may only live till I'm 80-100, but the human race may live for millions of years onwards, I'd like to think that at some point, some time, somewhere, someone will read my name and think of something I've done, big or (More likely) small.

I have had a son who will hopefully carry on my family name and my gene pool and for me that is enough.
