Which of the latest pc games were mere console ports?

A lot of crap exclusives which is why the PC platform has (for the last 3 decades) and always will be behind the home consoles.

Half life series? LoL? CSS 1.6 and source? Hawken? Arma? Chivalry? Dragon age (PC was DRASTICALLY different)? Legend of Grimrock? Sim City? Civ series? Diablo series? UT? Planet side 2?

Do I have to go on?

See below lol.

Pretty much all MMO's (Eve, Guild Wars 1/2, Rift etc.)

Outlast - New Horror Exclusive for PC

Slender: The Arrival

Mechwarrior

Blizzards Games - Diablo, Starcraft, Wow etc.

Total War Series

Day Z/Arma

Sim City

Every platform has its fair share of decent exclusives.

Now, please name 15 exclusives per console that were big hits...

None of them really make someone want to buy a PC though unlike some console exclusives.

Nor has console to the masses. Some might think "all my buddies are playing WoW, I might grab a pc to play it on". I might think "sods law, all my buddies are now playing the new Halo... Guess I better buy a 360 again to join in".

I personally think it's down to the gamer.

Of course....its all down to personal taste.

Some people prefer exclusive games on consoles.

I have a PS3 for the few games that are exclusive to PS3 (Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy are the only 3 I can think of off my head that I like).

Most games are usually spread across PC, PS3 and Xbox.....I prefer to play them on the PC for the better experience.

Yeah, well I prefer most of the PC exclusives as well but I've never really heard of anyone buying or upgrading to play them where as I've seen quite a lot of people buying a PS3 to buy Uncharted for example.

Those aren't PC exclusives though.

You will definetley have people upgrading their PC hardware for the Total War Rome 2....but then PC is different, as people who are into PC gaming, are usually upgrading their PC's on a fairly regular basis.

Buying a PS3 or Xbox these days for an exclusive is about the cost of a GTX 660 graphics card....so is hardly a big commitment if they want to play a game badly enough.

CoD4 is pants on PC because dedicated servers means "lol let's put 64 men on a 12 man map because that will go great". Even promod now is very poor because of a small community and nothing but a prefire competition.

More casual multiplayer games like CoD, Fifa etc. are pretty much all better on consoles because of the player bases. A multiplayer game is more affected by who you play with than whether your texture is 1024*1024 or 4096*4096. Particularly older games that could very quickly die on a smaller PC audience.

Yes graphics will be better on a PC almost invariably, but there's a lot more to gaming than just the graphics.

Plus you get all the exclusive that PC doesn't generally, particularly in regard to the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo.

I hate MP, I was talking purely from singleplayer perspective, which is what I play.

Loads of people built new PCs/upgraded for most of those games listed....ever been in General Hardware subforum? Happens all of the time...plenty of "spec me a PC/upgrade for Planetside 2/Rift/Diablo 3"

Stacking up PC exclusives against console exclusives will inevitably fail. Most of them are dire and lack variety. Half-Life sucks btw, worse than Halo.

People on computer forums yeah who aren't the majority of gamers as a whole.

Inevitably fail?......in your OPINION yes maybe, but then other people may think the opposite, as the respective games are about an individuals tastes.

Plus this isnt a willy waving contest about Consoles vs PC's.

A lot of "PC Exclusives" are games that aren't actually exclusives so much as coming from a time where consoles weren't up to the task at all/were impossible to develop for, or from titles that can't afford the distribution channels ie indie developers. Console exclusives on the other hand are generally massive AAA titles whereas there's no overarching manufacturer trying to get people to develop for the PC only in the same way as Microsoft and Sony pull developers towards exclusive development for consoles.
