National Security Vetting

Mine took a month but someone I work with who put theirs in at the same time took 2.5 months. Think it's a bit of a lottery really.

They do ask for previous vetting clearances on the form, so I assume they do refer to them. It's under three years old too.

As SPW points out, I don't think it makes any difference in the procedures of each except to cross reference and see if there are any anomalies that need investigating. It didn't make too much difference to me, however I was military personnel so it might be different in civvy street.

What the average time that the FCO take to complete SC clearance? How long did it take you to be vetted are you a foreign national?

Got mine in two weeks :p

SC is a couple of months max I think, but not really sure.

DV is about 6 months.

I've known SC to take 6 + months (in some cases over a year)...hence I thought this was the norm!!

What stops you being cleared for SC and DV ?

I have a crim record for assualt, not jailed about 6 years ago, will this stop it ?

Brother in Law took 6 months, he waited without finding any interim work. Then the company just decided not to hire anyway!

Depends which vetting agency you go through, as some seem to be more efficient than others at handling the paperwork.

I'm specifically after the form that goes to the FCO.

Mine was through DVA which was quick, ONR seems to be the slow one (or more prone to admin issues holding things up), but I don't think you would go through the nuclear industry one.
