my i5 3570k runs between 36c and 39c idle unclocked with no load if i run prime 95 it jums to 63c im using a coolermaster hyper 612s and arctic 5 paste any sugestions for a better cooler

Depends on air flow on the case your using, room temp and sensor calibration on the chip.
Your idle temps are fine.

your mate doesnt know much tbh. 30c idle is perfectly fine. i get the impression your mate thinks that 30c should be the load temp which unless you have awesome watercooling or a water chiller isnt gonna happen

39C idle isn't brilliant tbh. 60+ load is ok, not super duper for a stock 3570K (I got that for 4.4GHz overclock).

If you just want to keep it the way it is, it's fine. If you want to overclock, check out the airflow (case temp versus room temp).

Basically, cooler performance is all about delta-temps. If you have a warm room, then you'll get warm temperatures. If the delta is too high (between CPU temps and internal case temp), then check the fitting, or paste. You should get something decent for the 612S.

If the case temperatures are too high compared to room temperature, then you have a airflow problem.

What olivier renault said above.

Every time your room or case temp goes up a degree your CPU will go up a degree too.

If you have an indoor / outdoor digital thermometer with a wired probe put the probe inside your case in front of your cooling intake fan and see what the temperature there is. If it's much more than room temperature your case is not cooling like it should.

If that is whats happening come back and we will help you sort it out.

If your cooler intake temp is cool then try re-seating your cooler and see if that helps.
