Chris Taylor on the Fall of Gas Powered Games

Great interview, I really feel for Chris since he seems a really good guy.

The publishers really are a cancer that needs wiping out. What's really needed is crowdfunding where you can properly invest in companies making these great games.

I mean I'm happy to pay around the going price for a game plus a bit extra for some nice bonuses if it's something I know I'd play nonstop (Elite!) but paying £100+ just seems silly.

However I may pay £100 up front if there was some sort of profit share once a project competed. If their kickstarter game totally blows up and they make £50 million then why can't i get my £100 back?
theres a kickstarter style site like that but I cant remember what it's called.

slightly mad studios are basicly doing the same thing aswell with their own wmd portal site

Unable to watch the interview at the mo because I am at work, but it has become increasingly apparent to me that the driving force behind all the good stuff in TA and SC was actually due to Jon Mavor and not Chris Taylor. However I am willing to be persuaded otherwise if the evidence exists!

Yeah? Well he got his name on the most powerful Supreme Commander\Forged Alliance unit, in any case :p

The Scathis? :P

(I know the Mavor has a longer range but by the time you have 1/3 finished it the opposing team will have their Scathis decimating you, for a long time the best tactic for 3v3 was "build the Scathis, win the game".

Never seen a Scathis used in a competitive team game before. I prefer playing 1v1 or 2v2, and if you've watched the top players (eg TAG_Rock, Voodoo, Lu_Xun) extensively you'll find nukes are preferred to artillery late-game.
