Bioshock 3 - Infinite

Just finished it, loved the atmosphere and story although found the combat a bit samey by the final couple of hours and was only using 2-3 vigors in most of the fights. I might replay on easy so I can experiment a bit more as well as picking up the recordings I missed.

The ending was fantastic, makes me want to play it again just to pick up on things I missed that will make more sense in light of the final scenes.

I'm very interested to see what my Season Pass brings :)

Edit: Agree with James above about this or Tomb Raider for GOTY so far. I enjoyed Tomb Raider more but Bioshock was more of an experience and will stick with me longer.

I just finished this, Holy crap it's good, Such a great world and the story is top notch, the entire package was incredible, It's just a shame it was over in 6 hours

Really? I am currently 14 hours in and judging by the collectables I have found I'd say i was just over half way through. You must have ran the whole way through it to complete it in 6 hours .

There is so much detail in this game it's a shame to just rush through it IMO.

Just finished it too, took me about 16 hours in total on hard.

Absolutely loved the game and can't wait to play it on 1999 mode! :p

As has been said numerous times, the ending is awesome and there are so many little things that you can miss on your way through if you're not looking for them! :D

PC version of Bioshock: Infinite suffers from auto-aim assist while entering the iron sight mode,

throw back to the console help me i need to finish the game the same day i bought it mode, which most console games suffer from, making them a lot to easy for most pc players.

In order to fix it, PC gamers will have to start the game with a controller plugged in, disable aiming assist in the Controller Options and unplug the controller.

or,

Another workaround is:

1. Navigate to %USERPROFILE%My DocumentsMy GamesBioShock InfiniteXUserOptions ini.

2. Locate and open file XUserOptions in text editor.

3.Locate line bAimAssist and change true to false

PS, if the tweak don't stick just click properties and select read only.

or wait for another bug fix...

none of my work, maybe been posted before, but it helped me so i thought i'd share it.

lets keep pc games hard and consoles easy, as only kids play consoles :)

I played through on hard for proper challenge, and fully explored areas as i went through each level, ended up on about 14 hours.

Very good game. :)

Ive a 2500k and a 680 one min its super smooth the next it stuttering like mad.
But it its such a good game it didnt bother me

Finished it yesterday in about 13 hours on Normal mode. I really wish I had did it on Hard though even though I'm not the best at FPS games these days (getting old) I think Normal for the most part is for people new to this genre. When the DLCs start coming out and I redo the game I'll choose Hard.

As for the game itself... the whole game just blew my mind, especially the last few hours when it all comes together. It easily ranks as one the best games I've ever played.

I was looking forward to this based on all the hype and having enjoyed Bioshock so much, but I haven't been so underwhelmed with a game since Diablo 3.
The character models are really bad and they all have that dead stare. When you first enter Columbus there are people just standing there who just say one line and then just stare at you and stand there. So it's glaringly obvious that their only purpose is to tell you about Columbus. They remind me of theme park mannequins who just operate on triggers.

Models are also repeated everywhere in the same area. In the beginning there are 2 men and a lady who are repeated around the same square.

From a distance the graphics look good, but up close there are horrible 2D textures like the bags of fruit.

It's 2013 and they still made a game where you're a floating pair of hands - if you look down you have no body.

The skyhook makes no sense - if the hooks are so magnetic, why don't the suck up all the metal around them? And how does your character jump between them? If they are so magnetic that they suck you up to them then you wouldn't be able to pull your wrist hook from them and how would you jump away? They would just magnetically suck you back on.

Also they were so lazy they didn't even animate how you grab on to the hooks. You just get sucked to them and you can't see your arm, you just float there.

I thought the AI was supposed to be good. There was one part where an armoured enemy was shouting some rubbish to me, so I shot him a few times then he ran away, then just same straight back to the same place and I shot him a few more times, then he did the same thing a 3rd time and I killed him. He didn't even return fire.

The autosaving is very annoying - I am stuck at the same section since I died twice and just exited the game once there and I have to start again from way back at the place where you pick up the DLC items. I even have to pick up the DLC again as it doesn't save it.

Perhaps my expectations are too high for modern gaming, but I was far more impressed on a technical level by games like Battlefield 3, The Witcher 2 and even Spec Ops:The Line. I know Bioshock is more about the story, but I just get taken out of the game when I see glaringly obvious things that remind me I'm just running around a very linear FPS activating triggers like COD rather than exploring a virtual city with robot-like citizens.

people that say this annoy me. Not that i have completed it yet but if the devs want you to see stuff they will make sure you see it. Anything else is literally supplement that you wont even remember once you play a different game.

the whole notion that if you complete a game in X hours means your having a worse or better experience is just silly.
its still the same game , your still seeing the story, still killing **** (which is what this games core is) - your really not missing anything worthy of life changing.

Life changing? It's a game mate lol

As for missing out it you rush thru, pretty certain you will, there's bits of story all over the place, the random tears, the voxaphones, the animation booths.

I've certainly spent my time exploring where I can, pretty sure Im still missing stuff tho. Loved the way you could travel back and forth thru the zones in the older BS. Getting new skills then back tracking to open up extra areas was clever, if a little disorientating at times lol. Spent so much time just exploring.

Completed this last night, really enjoyed it and thought it was brilliant, although I annoyingly guessed quite a bit of the story correctly, which kinda ruined it in a way but it was still fun and it still had some surprises left that made up for it :D

Clocked in at 11 hours on hard although I'm not sure how accurate that is as when I first started it seemed to be stuck on 3 hours for a bit...
Also FutileBreadMachine what difficulty were you playing on? Doesn't sound like hard to me, I found the AI as pretty aggressive and kept pursuing me which caused me to die a lot xD

Please video games! Please hold my hand!

Just finished Hard in about 16 hours.

Loved it from start to finish..
Time to bring on 1999 mode as I felt that even spread thin over upgrades, I was doing enough to get by.

I also need to get every achievement too :D

Just finished, what an utterly brilliant game, a superb story and a perfect ending.

They actually managed to 1up Bioshock. I am amazed.

Don't get me wrong the game had it's flaws:

It was too easy, even on Hard.

I found the Vigor system to be an incredibly dumbed down version of Plasmids lacking in real punch and versatility, I never found myself wanting to experiment as I did in Bioshock.

There were too many weapons and not enough weapon slots. Also the Carbine with +Crit damage and increased aim accuracy is crazy OP. Enjoy taking down a Patriot on Hard with 4 shots to it's gears? Actually no, not really.

The "Gear" system felt rather contrived.

However none of them were deal breakers for me, easily one of the best games and best stories I've had the pleasure to experience in a long time. It was marginally predictable however it never played out "quite" as I was expecting. I'm rather sad I don't expect we will see any sort of continuation.

IMPORTANT: WAIT TILL THE END OF THE CREDITS.

I have not completed it yet, but I think the vigors seem a little like an afterthought. In BS1, the plasmids were a major part of the story and the game. In this they just seem like they were thrown in because they should be in the game....a little bit more about vigors in the game along the lines of those audiologs/conversations would have helped....The game should really have had more emphasis on them I think and integrated them in to the overall narrative a bit more.

Something other things about the story I realised:

1.)The Vigors and biomechanical creatures in the game probably were the result of tears to Rapture.
2.)Comstock saw 1980s New York as the horrible place without morals, not the present day New York,so draining the powers of Elizabeth was so he could make a tear to the future.

I also read somewhere else:
That the story was also making a reference to the relationship Big Daddy(same initials as Booker DeWitt) and Eleanor Lamb(Elizabeth is described as the Lamb of Columbia)

I don't get how can you finish in 6 hours, I'm way past 10hours now....

Same here. I played it on normal and made sure I explored the areas as much as possible. I have played around 20 hours now.

It makes sense to explore the areas as there are locked and hidden areas in the game, and you can access to more gear,Vigors and the audio recordings. The latter really helps with the backstory of the game. I also made sure I watched the video montages in the public viewing devices, and listened to what some of the NPCs were saying too.

BTW,the way they took 80s songs and made them sound turn of the century was great!!
