Gym and running headphone recommendations

Hi all

My few week old Sony in-ear headphones with iPhone music controls have already gone kapput due to the sheer amount of sweat that pours from me when I'm in the gym. As such, instead of wasting my time and money on headphones that aren't fit for this purpose, I am now looking into getting a pair that are specifically sweat proof (preferably guaranteed sweat proof so that if they ever do go wrong, I can get them replaced). I would like music controls and I'm now thinking that wireless headphones might be a better option for me as I frequently get a bit tangled with the wires draping down my front into my pocket. Additionally, the weight of the wires combined with sweat means I keep having to push in-ear headphones back in again while running on the treadmill.

I'm after decent sound quality with good bass and I'm prepared to pay a decent sum for the right product (I'll judge how much that sum is when I get some responses back!).

Has anyone got any recommendations? Just about the only thing I've been able to find so far is the JayBird Sportsband 2, but a few reviews seem to say it's more style over substance, and I'm really not interested in looking stylish (hell I look like a disgusting enough with all the sweat pouring off me so how my headphones look is of little consequence!)

Many thanks for any recommendations.

your ears are shaped so that sweat never enters your ear. so i do not think sweat is an issue tbh.

any in ear plugs should be fine and sound quality doesn't really matter in a gym environment. just get some in ear sennheisers.

My broken in ear Sony's say otherwise! The cones are always wet when I take them out of my ears after a gym session.

there are no sweat glands in your ear canal, also dripping sweat does not enter your ear.

ask any doctor, there is a reason why your ears are shaped like that, same with their is a reason why we have eyebrows, eyelashes, etc.

the body is designed in order to make is extremely hard for sweat to get into your ear canal, in fact i'm pretty sure it is impossible unless your excessively sweating and lying on your back.

are you sure your ear is not infected? i would go see a doctor and get an ear examination.

I've got very sweaty running in the Sony MDR-J10L ear phones, they don't push into the ear but are more than load enough, comfy and don't fall out.

I definitely don't have an ear infection, and I can ensure you that the cones get wet (I assume from sweat dripping from my head and down my ears and running down the headphone body to the cones). Which is why one of them has broken, because its got wet from sweat. Which is why I'm after headphones that are sweat resistant! I don't sweat excessively, but I do work hard enough that it drips from my ear lobes and elbows, and I usually look like I've wet myself by the time im finished!
