I checked reviews around May 2012 and the retail price was around $400-$450USD.

So after nearly a year, the price has not dropped at all?

Will the price drop in the forseeable future or do we have to wait till the GTX7xx series?

Aside from other reasons pound has been in decline against the dollar over that time which hasn't helped prices come down (and retailers usually use this as an excuse to pretty much double the effect of it on prices).

There hasn't been the same motion in development, market and economy that has shifted prices in the past.

I hope so, I'm looking to get another one to drop into SLI and stick it under water.
Same here, (no wc though), but the wf 670 is still an incredibly expensive card. I could add a cheaper reference model but id be put of by the noise and lack of oc headroom.

Darujhistan because they are happy with sales at current price.
Just think.
If u sell 10 cards for lets say 300 and make 100 on each --->1000
If u sell 7 cards for lets say 350 and make 150 one each ---> 1050

i would rather sell 7 cards and make extra 50 And you know why ??
1. You save money on transport and manufacturing
2. Card seems more Premium due to its price
3. Les cards sold less ppl to QQ about driver problems no support ect.

All in all I think NV knows the game just look at price drop over year .... ooooo wait what price drop :D

Yep was the same with the 580.I waited until the 600 series for the prices to drop so I could sli but it never happened.Ended up selling my 580 to buy the 670 as it was the better option for reselling.
In the same boat now, would love another 670 but with the 700 series around the corner and no price drop occurring will sell my 670 to afford a 770/780.
Moral of the story for me is I will never be in a position to afford to go sli lol, always playing catch up.

The best option if you want to SLI.... would be to not SLI.

Just sell your current card when all the news is coming out about the new generation of cards. Go without a nice gfx card for a month or so. Then upgrade to the new gen for hopefully around 100quid - whilst not suffering all the rubbish you get with dual cards.

Regarding next gen or sli, often the next gen doesnt offer a very signifigant increase over the previos range. Thats when i go sli, you can pickup a card that matches the one you have for a cheaper price. I mainly go secondhand on the market here. You can pickup some really decent kit. Ive had sli setups going back to 6800gt, most cases with one new card then add a second later at cheap sh price.

But the thing is the GTX 580 was peerless. That's not the case with 670 and 680.

Why are NV so much more expensive than AMD right now?

because they are still selling.

@OP:

The 600 series from 660+ is CRAZY high performance atm, especially when compared to consoles.

Also, with details of the new PS4 looking rather lacklusture, there is no need to drop the price on the PC cards, because they still blow EVERYTHING out of the water at the moment.

I wouldn't expect to see any major price drops until the 700 series is announced or out tbh, and considering how insanely powerful the current generation of cards is, there is really no rush to get the next generation atm.

No they're not.

Again, it's not.

And the GTX670 doesn't blow everything out the water.

The current generation of cards are not insanely powerful.

I can only assume spoffle was saying no their not to the 660 and up being crazy powerful, rather than to the their still selling.
Even spoffle isnt daft enough to sugest that the cards are not selling.
