Well, i know he isn't because he has a good job and is good at it.

However does things all the time like the following;

Gets something from the fridge and leaves it open
Empties the hoover and throws a main plastic filter part away
Leaves lights on
Turns the shower on then goes to his room for 10 minutes before actually going in
Does the same as above but with the iron
Boils a pan of water with food in and leaves it overflowing on the hob

I'm not sure if he is lazy or just stupid. Does anyone else have friends like these?

To start with I think anyone who's ever lived in a student house will have encountered a lot of the above :D;)

Have you ever told him not to do it? Some people (eg.me) can stay oblivious to certain things that they're used to doing at home in other places too, without knowing that it may not always be the norm for others lol!

From my experience these sort of people genuinely see no issue in what they're doing and think it's normal. Unfortunately my experience also tells me they will never learn to be cleaner or more efficient and repeatedly telling them will just sour the relationship until it becomes impossible to live with each other.

With regards to the throwing away of plastic filters, I think you do have a bit of a plank. Some people just can't look at something and figure out how it works (on a basic level), things are almost a mystery to them. They're the same sort of people that get a new phone and manage to crack the screen within a week.

Joined a computer hardware forum to reply to a retarded housemate thread.:confused:

Why not start with asking "why did you do that?" the next time he does something stupid? Highlight it and he might realise he is doing it

Classic example of being lazy and getting everything done for him in his younger days, just fill him in next time he does it, they will soon learn.

Could it be?!? :D

He's Dougal, watch Father Ted all will become clear. My mate at work is a Dougal, he touches soldering irons to see if they're on, its a gift from God.

Maybe he's too busy doing complex calculations in his head & forgets the little things.

(I doubt this is true).
