walking Dead on Fox HD, not so HD?

It's shot on 16mm film as a creative choice, because it echoes what Romero shot his classic Zombie films on and many other productions.

It depends what resolution they have scanned the film at really, but there is plenty of it there, so that shouldn't be an issue. Obviously though, its got a much more raw feel to it, along with the film grain, rather than if it was shot on a super sharp and clean digital camera, where they likely would be adding in grain anyway to get the gritty feel.

Perhaps Fox HD doesn't have the same bandwidth as other Sky Channels. Back when it was conceived, it was just a channel showing re-runs and likely didn't garner much attention anyway.

The Walking Dead is certainly in HD. If you have a look at digital HD copies like the kind from iTunes, they're typical of any sort of show in HD really.

There's grain but you wouldn't mistake that for it being in SD. Maybe the Fox HD broadcast is just poor quality.

16mm at HD is pretty bad. The BBC doesn't accept it as a source format for their HD channels at all!

Fox's editing of TWD is bloody awful at times, they regularly cut the first couple of seconds off when it starts, and a few times I've noticed the cuts to ad breaks happening a second or two into a new scene. Seems like an incredibly simple thing that anyone who cares about their job would get right.

I am glad someone else thinks this also...the last series I watched I had to double check again I was actually on the HD channel.
