24" or 27" at 1920x1080???

well, basically i plan on getting a new monitor, but im not sure which,

so problem is:

24" 1920x1080

or

27" 1920x1080


27" 2560x1440 seems too expensive, and i may not have the budget for it.

any ideas on which i should go for?
 
Its a personal thing, I prefer 24" at that res, but then my eyesight is very good. Other people may differ. I find 27" at that res too big. If I was going 27" I would definatly buy the 2560x1440.

My father on the other hand would be happy with 27" 1920 x 1080.
 
Having tested 24" and 27" models of that resolution side by side on numerous occasions I would also stress that it will come down to personal preferences. I don't find there to be much difference between the two - the 27" obviously looks like a slightly enlarged version of the 24" model but it doesn't suddenly become stretched, pixelated or anything ghastly like that. I have no visual problems and a keen eye for detail so it's not that I'm missing anything obvious ;). I would say base your choice on the size you feel is most suitable for you and don't worry about the resolution. :)

well, obviously the bigger the better, right? :D
ive used a 27" Mac monitor at uni, and im practically loving how much you can do on it with the extra amount of space.. however that was a 2560x1440...

so i guess resolution does matter, as i doubt it would be the same if i got a 1920x1080 :(
but i guess thats my problem due to the budget..

i was looking at that monitor some time ago, price seems decent, 4ms response time, pretty nice.
just need to know if anyone has any problems with it.
 
Setting my 27" screen to 1080p looks like a blur fest - It might just be that its not the native resolution though :confused:

If the latter is the case then get the benq.

I would just wait, save £150 and get the Hazro 1440p IPS screen.

If you have seen the Apple 27" Cinema Display its basically that but £500 cheaper in a crud frame - well actually better...

the 27" Apple Monitor i see at uni is a really old version of it, back of it was fat,

now that you say, the Hazro 1440p IPS screen is basically equivalent to the Apple 27",
i might think about it.

never heard of Hazro though, how good are they??

haha yeah they do need better frame and stand, the Hazro 1440p IPS screen does look kinda chunky from the side view =/
 
Hazro are good in that the screen is good.

For me, that's all that matters really (and its obviously not dead on arrival)

The stand is terrible but you can always try mounting on the wall like some people have - I think one guy even tried taking the actual screen out the bezel completely!

Yes, it is the interpolation making it look fuzzy and blurred. I can't stand running 1920 x 1080 on a 2560 x 1440 monitor - in games or on the desktop.
 
For me the pixel density is not high enough on a 27" 1920 x 1080 screen but there's plenty of others who get on with it just fine. Best to try before you buy if possible and see what you think.

Is there another monitor (a better alternative choice? xD) that is equivalent spec to that Hazro? :D



so my best bet is to go for a monitor that is:

24" 1920x1080

or

27" 2560x1440

You could try using this:
http://www.pxcalc.com/

It will automatically use your current resolution, so simply add the size of your current monitor. Take note of the "DPI" reading.

The corresponding reading for 27" @1920x1080:
DPI: 81.59

The corresponding reading for 24" @1920x1080:
DPI: 91.79

The corresponding reading for 27" @2560x1440:
DPI: 108.79

Now, choose the one that is closest to your current reading. Or if you have to squint your eyes or zoom a lot with your current monitor, then simply go for a slightly lower DPI.

However I returned mine because it had very harsh anti glare. It was like looking through a load of vaseline!

For me, it just seemed easier to return and buy a Hazro. Not sure if Dell of toned it down / removed anti-glare coating now
 
How far away from your screen do you sit? I'm about 3 foot away from my 26 inch 1920x1200 and it looks great to me, never found it blocky or felt the writing too large. It does start to look a little chunky at less than 12 inches away.
 
I'd go with a 27" No one complains about quality on there 42"+ Screens when watching a blu ray at 1080p so i really dont see the problem, with it. 120Hz however makes it for me once i went 120hz i'll never go back to 60.
