***The Official Sony Xperia Z Thread ***

OK, that's the same behaviour mine exhibits both charging and on battery.
Problem is when on battery and I don't notice it, the next time I come to use the phone its completely dead or if I'm lucky has about quarter charge left.

This phone is running the stock ROM and hasn't been rooted or had any software mods.

Looks like this is a fault with the phone, should my next step be to take it to the phone provider?

Cheers :)

Yes that's what I would do. Definitely a fault with the phone and makes it unuseable. Where did you get it from.

Got my z and very happy so far. Feels like a good quality phone.

I have a question though, trying to be prepared I bought a screen and back protector/shield off the net. I then opened the box and one was already supplied. Are the high end screen protectors any better than the one supplied by Sony or should I just return it?

It's worth holding onto the other set bud, the ones in the box are good but will scratch eventually. I would use the decent ones and leave the ones in the box as a back up.

Yep, that's the exact reason the S4 (and S3 before it) didn't even figure into my choice. The Galaxy series just look and feel cheap, tacky and plasticky.

I do like the feel of this compared to my S3.

Thanks for that. I was guessing so but wondered what to do.

Did you not consider the HTC One? It's even better on the premium feel front.

That was a consideration too and I think what swung it was the idea of a dust proof and water resistant phone. I mean i'm not gonna be making calls in the shower or anything but kinda reassuring to know it most likely will be ok in the rain.

it will be ok in a bath.. underwater.. ;) :D rain is nothing for Z lol.

Sony's 'shortly after launch' release of 4.2 seems to have quietly disappeared.....

£419 is a darn good price for the ZL though.

I had a look at the Xperia Z but found it tad too big... I would love to have be able to purchase the ZL from within the UK instead. Shame Sony don't give a choice.

Can't see what all the viewing angle complaints are with this phone , had a play on one today and it was great the angles.

My eldest son dropped his s3 in the bog once, it works fine after the rice treatment but it has lost loads of resale value because of its water damage indicator, waterproof is a massive rw asset for the XZ imo.

Yeah it's not much worse than the s3. Screen is very sharp in fact, in the HTC one thread there's a link to a website that compares the latest phone screens and xperia z does quite well.

Main gripe for me is loudspeaker is not very good. And I don't like software buttons that much.

Battery is similar to the s3 I think it should have been better but that's not unique to this device.

Oh and where's 4.1.2? Come on Sony..
