Hi guys,

Just wanted to spec out another gaming PC for a friend of mine since the previous one you all specced me was a great hit with the mate I set it up for.

This time the budget is £750 inc VAT + Shipping.

The system is purely for gaming for the latest titles on 1920 x 1080. Should only include the system without any accessories / monitor / OS.

One thing that I was asked was is it worth upgrading right now or waiting 2-3 more months for the new haswell processors / next generation of video cards from AMD / Nvidia? Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Regards,
Uzair

Also - Just to add I would appreciate it if we could somehow fit in a 7950 or 670 within the budget and exclusively one SSD drive around the 256GB mark which is enough to install 3-4 games at the moment.

Hope that's possible.

would you recommend any cooler which would allow me to push the CPU to 4.5ghz +?

Also would you recommend upgrading right now or should i wait 2 months for haswell - don't know but how much the prices for these parts will decrease.

They probably won't decrease, I don't see Haswell pushing the boundaries too much, will be another SB to IB kinder thing, more power efficient with a little performance gain.

& 256GB can only hold 2-3 games? What games you guys playing?

1 x LG GH24NS95 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £19.99
Total : £747.04 (includes shipping : £12.50).

2TB of storage which is plenty, forget the SSD for now he can add one as an upgrade later on easy enough. To get a SSD in the spec he will have to compromise on the CPU and/or the GPU. This 7870XT is actually closely related to the 7950 so is a savvy option for those trying to work to a budget :)

Mobo is B grade so might need some sata cables. This gives him the SSD and storage HDD if he wants to get a good overclock he will need to add an aftermarket at some point

This leave's you about £50 for a case, which is kind of personal.

Its an AMD build with the 6 Core Piledriver. I think the FX-6300 plus a Radeon 7950 would perform better in game's than an i5 and a less powerfull graphics card. The build is built around the best GPU you can get for the money really.

Also, unless you ever did heavy CPU stuff, you wont notice the slightly slower speeds from the FX chip compared to i5. It gives you the SSD aswell,

You would get a smoother quicker experience with the SSD and the better graphics card... booting up/shutting down + loading games and playing them!

Nice build but I'd prefer to stick to the 3570K for gaming after reading reviews on various websites plus the general recommendations of this forum.
