i have put this on sapphire and amd and a other oc site for help and would like to see on the site the card came from.

i brough a 7870 2gb shapphire and i put it in my pc and put the 2x6pin cables in the card needed, and the card will not power on at first it gets that sort of power look,(press the power button and it puts a bit of power in the pc and stops but the cpu and gpu fans move like 1/4 way) and that's it. i have the psu stated below and am 100% sure it should power it. and i already use a asus 7770 so i know my pc all works.

intel i5 2500
corsair xms3 8gb x4gb
POWERSTATION 600W << cannot say make due to bad rules - Rules in which you may want to read ASAP.

SONY AD-7280S-0B DVDRW OEM
asus 7770 1gb

this card is from overclcokers this is why i emailed customer support. i don't have the receipt due to the guy not giving it me for tax and that it was on a company account, but on the box it still have the overclockers barcode ect on it

You're new here but you should have read the forum rules which explain that competitor linking isn't allowed.

The filter stopped you from putting the name of that competitor in your post and you've edited the name to get around that which isn't acceptable.

Please remove the link.

Thank you.

ok so how am i meant to show people what psu it is and i put @ not o i will take it out the post but don't really see why if it don't even really link to the site if one even looked.

yes im new here only

If that PSU was able to dish out 600w in theory, yes - it should be able to provide ample power for that card. However you'd have to know who the OEM is to understand if it's a decent PSU. It's a competitor branded product and seems fairly cheap for a modular with that wattage so potentially it doesn't do what it says on the tin. It's a difficult one to gauge - the PSU might not be providing enough wattage or the card could be at fault. Probably heard this before but never skimp on PSU - it's like drinking fine wine out of a beaker.

yes and had to reinstall windows due to it lol.

i have updated everything and still nothing.

my gpu SN:A1245000 these was the ones that had the bad caps in and im 100% sure they or some have gone.

this could be why my pc will not power on with this card even just plugged into the psu and even while plugged to my motherboard.

i would stat i tried everything on my wifes biostar motherboard and you can see its trying to power up but cannot.

edit:Jinxter
i had that on the other sites but it was the only one i could get then and was the last item i needed. from what i have read this psu are OCZ ones

Possibly the PSU then. Which motherboard are you running, which revision and which BIOS?

The PSU has 2 12V rails each supply 25A, this seems like a cheap designed PSU to me. AFAIK only higher wattage PSU's from good brands need / use twin 12V rails.

You can't link to competitor sites or disguise your attempt to do so.

No promotion of OcUK's competitors

We, Overclockers UK (OcUK) are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwidth which is paid for exclusively by us. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-
  • Posting links to competitors websites
  • Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
  • Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
  • Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
  • Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
  • Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
  • Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
  • Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
  • Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
  • Disguising attempts to do any of the above

The product code you've now listed identifies the competitor product as well so needs to be removed.

Here are the specifications for your PSU so that people can help you:

OCZ is still a brand not an OEM. Unless you have access to another rig with decent correctly rated PSU the only other choice I see you have is to RMA the card. If it tests as OK then it is definitely your PSU.

i am fair but how would one know what psu i use if i did not give a hint it will be like me coming here saying you kissed my wife yet i have 3 wifes you will not know what one im on about.

im glad for the reply's as its more than other sites but a hint of my psu and i get this.

To be fair the moderator has been lenient and helpful. I'd just stick to the rules and everyone's happy :D

Jinxter:

i would test it but the only person i know with a gaming rig that would power it is in scotland and im in west midlands so no way to find out.

Ok so to confirm your running the latest motherboard BIOS?

The whole PC does not turn on (no lights or fans) when the GPU is in?

Without the GPU in what happens then.

Wives? Random  Yes I get the gist of what you mean and although frustrating, we're bound by the forum rules in a way that using them is a privilege and not our absolute right ie we must adhere to their rules they are a business trying to make a profit after all.

Back to matter at hand you have two options - replace the PSU with a quality brand or RMA the card. You should then discover the culprit. :)

bios updated as the card would not be supported with out the update.

i get the the little power jump you get when you press the power the cpu and gpu fan move slightly but never powers up.

my wifes biostar has 2 leds on it to show power it on and good and when it was plugged in you could see it trying to power on and the leds came on fan moved then all went off then did the same again, but only did it 2 times but if i turn the psu off and let all power die and turn on and try again i get the same results.

yeah i get the rues just wanted this sorted.

i would replace the psu but would be wasting money if i find its the gpu and i don't have all the details to RMa to overclockers since the person i brought it off did not give me the receipt and on OC RMa form they say the buyer has to do it.

im kinda 140 out of pocket due to this problem
