Hi,

Just done a multi car quote with Admiral, seems very cheap. However, bit confused on their no claims bonus question...normally your asked 'how many ncb do you have?' but they word it slightly differently and when you drill into the help for that question it states:

Please tell us how many years No Claims Bonus is being used for this car.

This bonus, earned from a previous policy, must:

be proven by the driver's previous insurer
not be part of a 'block' of No Claims Bonus, e.g. if a driver is bringing 5 years No Claims Bonus from a previous policy, this cannot be split over more than one car e.g. 2 years bonus on one car and 3 years on another
only be used on this car; it cannot be used on another car on this policy, or on another policy elsewhere.

So does this mean that although i have 7 years ncb as i have only owed my current car for 2 years i can only put 2 years ncb? that seems a bit unfair, i mean does that then mean if i change car tomorrow my ncb is then zero by their policy ? or have i miss read this ?

I would phone them but customer services closed at mo

Thanks

If you were to get a new vehicle you couldnt transfer ncb over as its a new vehicle, so 0 ncb that policy would be. Mine was exactly the same with admiral when I bought another vehicle, I had to start the policy with 0 ncb even tho I have 4 ncb on my other policy. Stupid it is.

You are interpreting it incorrectly.
All it means is if you have a NCB of say 5 years. You can't be using 3 of it on your other car, and 2 of it on this one. It cannot be split. You use the total run of NCB you have earnt on your current car you are about to get a quote for. Previous NCB is still valid regardless of the vehicle earnt on.

I had a feeling after posting this was what it ment

I was able to transfer my NCB to the new car I was buying, and started a new policy on my old car as part of a multi-car (policy) discount, so to reiterate, you can 'transfer' the NCB, but not split it between two vehicles

This! Been with admiral for 4 years.

Not sure what cosmic is on about.

I've got a multi-car policy with admiral.
I've got 10 years no claims on the evo and 2 years on my little pug 106.

Just be sure to put your largest amount of no claims on the car that will cost the most to insure.
