I realize this is a UK forum and not a USA one but many companies on this list operate worldwide so it still relates to many of the members here.

Time to cast your vote for the Worst Company in America for 2013. The voting has already started but you still have time for some of the later brackets.

As we all know, EA was voted the worst company in America in 2012. Unfortunately even with over 250,000 votes, EA shrugged it off and pretty much said "FU we have bagillions of people playing our games so whatever."

I'm hoping with them winning two years in a row and more than 250,000 votes there might be a chance for a little change. I am another victim of the Sim City tragedy and have spent $87 on a game that has less features than it's 10 year old counterpart so EA is getting my vote this year. None of the other companies have personally or financially harmed me this year.

Never really got why so many people seem to hate EA.

They make games that millions buy & enjoy, yes they might not always be groundbreaking (I'm looking at you Fifa!) but they still put out some good stuff.

Just seems to be another thing that is cool to hate.

Says a lot about EA while the western world is in the grips of the worst economic depression ever seen caused in large part to the actions of banks people (ok gamers) still think EA is worse then then those financial insitutions.

Cool to hate?

The shoddy customer support, unethical methods (they had a petition awhile back on some site about homosexual parts of their games or some such, almost all the signers were bots, their bots...), paying more for games only to realise the servers will be shut down come the sequel or...whenever they please.

I dunno, a lot of the hate is validated, yes its just video games, but people do actually care sometimes.

They're destroying video gaming. Is that good enough for you?

Video gaming has never been so popular, how are they destroying it?

I'm genuinely interested in your view, as to me they are just another game publisher.

Publishers are like bureaucrats, they eventually become irrelevant.. but fight hard to keep going, even at the cost of their resource.

First off I'm going to say I'm 27 years old and have a spouse/kids. I'm not a 16 year old "call of duty era" who's nerd-raging and made this topic.

Sim City had 3 strikes for which put a permanent bad taste in my mouth with EA:

1. Advertised it as being better than ever / multiple awards / best sim city ever / etc. when it was clearly not. It's less than 25% of what previous sim city games offer and yes you could say that with just the city size itself.

2. Absolutely no simulation is actually being done in the game when the game is being advertised as a simulator. It's just all smoke and mirrors. Like having a city full of residential and not a single commercial/industrial building in the whole region yet your cities keeps growing with hundreds of thousands of residents.

3. Didn't give me a refund for the game. I have NEVER I repeat NEVER been denied a refund for a product I didn't like (within a reasonable return time) in my ENTIRE LIFE. Call me a wuss I guess but I have never been shocked so much by bad business practices and bad customer service. I didn't think signing my writes away joining the military would be a bad as agreeing to EAs terms when buying one of their video games.

How much money have they done you out of?

Oh so so very much

Has to be Farcebook. Even those of us who wish to avoid it completely just cannot get away from it's overwhelming inanity. Despicable firm, bane of not only the internet but the modern World.

Do a bit of research, its explained all over the web, and its not by cool to hate gangs. Most the leading gaming entities can see it also, and publish reasoning.

They're a pure money spinning company. Which yes, money is end game for many businesses, but so many companies out there manage to make money while maintaining a good standing with the customer.

EA are horrible, they're buying smaller devs and settings rules, rules that hurt the game.

EA: YOUR GAME MUST HAVE MULTIPLAYER!! Oh great, so now single player games get given a crappy bolted on multiplayer experience.

EA:Microtransactions are the future! your games must incorporate them!

Oh look, the game was a success, lets make 50 more of the same game with little to no improvement, and stop supporting the one that came out just a few months ago!!

Those are some quick crappy rants that annoy me, but there's more business focused problems, that are widely publicised. Including the fact the CEO is supposed to be a tool

I think most people's biggest problem with EA is their near systematic purchasing of great game development companies and turning them into annual re-release cash cows.

Their entire business model has pretty much revolved around this.

It still shows a shocking lack of perspective if you honestly feel that selling a rubbish game makes them the worse company in the US.

You have companies making thousands homeless, companies selling weapons that kill hundreds, companies that are destroying the environment, yet the company that you think is the worst in the UK is one that sold a bad game. Yeah, I think we can see why EA can totally ignore this particular poll...

Maybe if you actually looked at the bracket, you would see that there are no weapon companies, tobacco companies, chemical companies etc. It's all just internet or service companies. The only one that is questionable is AbInBev which is a beer company. I have in some shape or form been exposed to every single company on that list and none of them have ripped me off 1 penny let alone $87 like EA did. So yes they get my vote and at least for me personally, it is highly justified.
