Engine Oil Flush

Hi guys,

Doing an oil change with filter soon due to a lot of condensation in the oil. Its not a blown head gasket, just short trips and winter.

I've herd a lot of mixed views on using this engine flush treatments, what are your views?

For a bit of condensation, i wouldnt bother, its a very minimal "problem".

Fresh oil and let it get upto temp once in a while and it will naturally boil off that water

Just put a litre of fresh oil through to ensure all old carp is out. Then add sump plug, new filter, fill with oil and go for a good hour or so thrash.

Don't bother wasting a litre of oil either.

Just do an oil change as normal, get the engine nice and hot first.

when you do this do you use cheap tesco oil or carlube etc? I would cry if I poured away a litre of expensive synthetic oil

Finest mobil 1, I tend to only put 500ml through to be honest as it's not cheap.

Is yours dry sumped Gibbo? Wouldn't you bet better washing out the oil tank?

Only GT cars are dry sumped, possibly turbo too, but Carreras are not.
