Hi all,

I've been looking at parts for a build for months now and still am unsure. More of a hobby looking and learning about parts really but how would these do in a gaming oriented build with some graphics and video editing around the edges?

Any advice for changes/additions will be appreciated.

My budget is pretty much £900, But On top of the parts i listed, I need a keyboard, gaming mouse and a Wifi receiver which together will cost around £45, so £820 + £45 + let's say £15 shipping would be £880 so not much room for expansion really. While i've considered Intel, from what I've seen from Tek Syndicate and the release specs of the PS4 i think the higher core count may become advantageous in the future for games. But I'm still really unsure about almost the entire rig anyway... Thanks for the reply.

whether you go i5 or 8350 should be dependant on what games you play, a small handful perform better on an 8350 like crysis 3, however the vast majority the i5 outperforms. Sensible GPU choice and motherboard choice.

I would get rid of that PSU for something more reliable. It is manufactured by CWT, you should get a XFX or Seasonic one, you dont need 600W for the build, a 500W would be more than enough. I would also pay a few quid more and stretch to 8gb of ram and consider an SSD for that extra bit of speed. These CPU's also run hot, so if your planning on overclocking, get a half decent CPU cooler and itl take you a long way!

Well I'd like this build to last into the future and I feel like the core count advantage may become more useful in the future But I'm not too sure.

Bearing my current computer is 6-7 years old and that's what I have to game on at the moment so anything will be a huge improvement. Motherboard and CPU choice are fairly independent from the other parts I'm considering so I can easily decide closer to the purchase time. Most of the comparisons of the CPUs seem to say they both perform better in certain games.

I'll be playing the Battlefield series, Crysis Series, Farcry Series, Skyrim, Arkham Asylum/City Etc..

An SSD seems a little out of my budget and I'm not too concerned with loading speeds really.

I'll take your advice for the PSU though, thankyou for that information.

If I did go for the 3570k would the GPU still be a sensible choice?

Forgot to say, If I can get 8GB of RAM for about £40 I'll take it, but prices seem to have gone up a lot recently..

Another point is that I'm going for a blue colour scheme so would like black/blue/white parts, but a little of other colours isn't a problem.

Then number of cores does not always count and yes, that GPU will be fine.

You don't really want to go below 8gb these days. Any less and your gaming experience could be hampered.

The i5 spec RJC has spec'd will be ideal. You also have the upgrade choice later of the 3770k, if you need it. If you decide to go for the AMD, get a 990chipset not 970.

Thanks, I think I'll make the decision closer to the purchase time as price is a big factor for me unfortunately and I'll need to get games as well so the cheapest option is ideal really :/
