I have just installed Dirt 2 and it took about 15 minutes before I could actually play it! I could press escape to skip the video and even after the race you have to go through all the rubbish before trying another one

Is it just me that's impatient when it comes to not being allowed to skip through intro videos? The first thing I do is look how to delete the intro movies but when its like that in game I usually end up using alt & f4 then uninstall!

What happened to games like Rallisport challenge and Juiced where you can just smash out a levels and not be forced into a career?

I installed settlers 7 the other day and I belive (I haven't found a way around it anyway) you have to watch the 1 min intro into the start screen every time... Which is a bit of a drag.

Much as I love 2K's games, their damned start up video with the logo and the neighbourhood wakening volume that you can't skip boils my nuts.

One of the first things I look for.

Command line switches like -nointro and ways to rename the crappy video files on titles you cannot skip them on.

Yeah Dirt2 is pretty hilarious (in a non-funny way) in this regard, after every race I remember you get given all these random awards I have no interest in like decals, fluffy dice etc :/

Nothing beats Assassin's Creed though (11 clicks to exit the game).

That startup of Dirt 2 is a right royal pain, I agree. The way you cant even change or save graphic settings until during the first race (and since it was the first race, I didn't realise I could change them then - I thought I had to wait till it finished).

Crazy.

Ah yes, another ridiculous thing I've seen sneaking in to games, throwing you in at the deep end. The need for speed games do this as well, before you've even had a chance to remap the controls :////////////////////////////////////////////

Huh! I don't have this problem with Dirt 2. I either press the "Start" button on my Xbox pad or "Enter" key without a pad.

Ass Creed, pretty much all the cutscenes and first intro on first play through, unless it states ( press B to skip cutscene )

Borderlands - Irritating in the extreme for every time I have to watch that bl@@dy nvidia trailer

CIV 5 and that dull as ditch water intro sequence. You could skip, but not immediately... I used to hammer that ESC key. But like the goggles, it did nothing. :D X-Com also annoyed with the endless sequence of logo's.

Skyrim's intro appears to be another unskippable. Interesting the first time around, but becomes increasingly tiresome.

Lol. I didn't mind the Dirt 2 transition screens. I always assumed they were some animations to disguise loading times. They dropped that in Dirt 3 due to fan feedback i'm guessing, and we ended up with a very bland, boring progression. I liked the visual map of dirt 2.
