Hey,

I was speaking to someone the other day who mentioned about me having a couple of the old star wars games in my steam library. This moved onto conversation about the films, to which I replied I've never seen any.

Am I missing out on something that is a must watch?

Thanks :)

If you haven't seen any then watch them in order (new ones first). You won't have the level of expectation of them that everyone else did and they do help with the overall story.

Serious thread is serious?

You are either going to really enjoy watching the films, or - depending on the games you played - not bothered by them due to the comparative lack of depth provided by them.

Either way, why did you buy a Star Wars game without watching the film?

I can't resist a steam bargain and my friend used to spend hours playing the games!

So I need to watch from newest to oldest?

I suppose it depends on what kind of films you like. Plenty of people think Star Wars is a stupid pile of rubbish. I like the original films, but not as much as I once did. Lucas' constant tinkering didn't help.

1,2 and 3 are that bad. Just watch the "star wars review red letter media" on youtube. its more entertaining than the new movies

They're not that bad especially 3, just not as good and different to 4-6.

Over the decades i've watched the original trilogy countless times, couldn't avoid it even back on the old terrestrial TV. The newer 3 i watched when they came out and never since until recently i decided to watch all 6 at once and found myself enjoying all of them. If they were books i'd probably slate the latest trio but for some mindless 'more' star wars they were ok.

Agreed. Do not under any circumstances watch the later episodes 1, 2 and 3.

& there's three reasons for this. (there could be four)

1st reason is JAR
2nd reason is JAR
3rd reason is BINKS.

The other reason is the fact that George Lucas attended the Paul WS Anderson/Uwe Boll school of film directing before deciding to direct SW I,II & III. :p

Watch the original trilogy for sure, only watch the newer ones if you really want some more afterwards.
