Hi All, Just want some advice, I am the very happy owner of a gtx 670 windforce 3 however I have just ordered a butterfly labs jalepeno bitcoin miner and its at least a few months away from being delivered, I have tried mining with my nvidia card but as everyone knows they are rubbish and am seriously thinking of swapping to the gigabyte 7950 however I will only do this if it does not compromise my gaming in anyway, I love adaptive vsync on the nvidia card and have had absolutely no issues with the card, and I am a little worried swapping given that I have read the frame timings on amd cards are worse and show stutter more often and I am guessing have no adaptive vsync.

Please just after some balanced advice.

I suppose it depends on how you look at it really. You could probably sell your 670 for what it will cost to buy a 7950.

You can have adaptive vsync through Radeon Pro (a third party control panel extension basically, that gives more options and features that should really be included in the standard control panel).

The frame timing information doesn't seem to be consistently reported, with there being members on here reporting frame times that contradicted what some sites said (for the better).

Plus, it's just a single GPU you're going for, so you'll not really have to worry about that sort of thing anyway.

So from an objective perspective, you won't really see much difference between a 670 and 7950, it's just whether you feel it's worth going through the processes of selling your old card and buying a new one.

I just changed from 660ti to 7950.

At first I was getting higher fps but wasn't as smooth as my nvidia.

today I installed radon pro and followed tmatts tutorial and now my 7950 is just as smooth as my nvidia.

AMD card do run just as well but some things take extra work to get running correctly.

My 7950 is hashing at 500

Ok thanks Guys, stuff to think about I guess, if I knew when I might get the jalepeno I would be happier but could be months, and the 670 only hashes at 97mhash

Well I received my gigabyte windforce 7950 today (last day of my week break in france and ordered the card whilst out there, top marks overclockers for getting it here on my requested day) and have to say I am very pleasantly surprised, I have tested BF3, bioshock and skyrim and if anything it appears to perform slightly better and smoother than the gtx670 (I was very worried) I am using radeonpro with the dynamic vsync.

I use the pc as a gaming console with wireless xbox pad and connected to my tv and avr so I am not a hardcore pc gamer by any stretch but really am very happy and surprised, and best of all it mines bitcoins much faster than the nvidia card whilst I wait for the buttrefly labs asic box to arrive (who knows when)

One thing though could someone post a link to ltmatts guide for settings etc as I had a look but could not find the forementioned post.

Cheers Guys (need to sell this expensive nvidia card now :-).
