Anyone on here with/had a Ganglion-Cyst?

Thread hasn't been locked, therefor OCUK officially endorses the treatment of lumps by hitting them with heavy books :p

I have one on the back of my foot right now. I went to the doctors about it, they referred me to the hospital, who said they could operate if I wanted, but I wouldn't be able to walk on it for a little while afterwards. I mentioned hitting it with a book and he said "Yeah, I'd do that instead".

So recently I bludgeoned it repeatedly with Alan Sugar's autobiography (Hardback), but aside from hurting my foot, the little bugger remained as he was :( In the last couple of days it randomly swelled up to twice its normal size and made walking impossible, went back to the normal lump after 48 hours though, no idea what it was.

See mine has shrunk in size but it's really hurting today. Problem I work in IT so need to know how long I can't use my right hand for as I'm a proper derp with left handed mouse control!

I fell on my wrist whilst fielding playing cricket, and the following morning had a "ganglion" on the top side of my wrist joint.

I pressed it and could feel it "burst" under the skin - wasn't painful.

Presumably my hand won't fall off....

cHk4 I had one removed nearly 2 years ago (its come back again :( after about 18 months but smaller at the mo.) but I was able to slowly use a computer after a couple of days (work in IT also), but takes many weeks to be fully operational again. Your doctor should be able to give you estimates on how long you would be out of action due to your particular circumstance.

I opted to stay awake whilst they did the OP, that was fun :D

I noticed I had a few about a year or so ago, they're on the inside of my hand where my fingers meet my palm (2 on one hand, one on the other). They're small so not visible and don't cause any pain/restricted movement. Doctor (I didn't go to the doctor's for this, I was there for another reason and just mentioned it at the end :p) said to just ignore them unless they get bigger and start hurting/restricting movement.

That sounds more like Dupuytren's..

I have it in both hands but it's really bad in the left :(
