I've finalized all the components of my build, but I'm having trouble ascertaining exactly how much wattage I require and I'm getting pretty different figures with online calculators.

I plan to overclock some components when I get a 2560x1440 monitor, but in the meantime I'll probably leave them at stock.

My build is:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz (Overclocked to 4.4Ghz)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 (ATX)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM
SSD: Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
GPU: Asus Matrix Platinum 7970 (Overclocked to 1300/1800 if possible, stock is 1100/1650)
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (9-9-9-24)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Fan controller apparently requires 30 watts)
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD

Thanks a bunch guys :)

I'd say a 500W would do fine, but maybe go for a 600W to be safe. If you ever plan on going Crossfire I'd go for 800W if you are also planning to overclock both cards.

A decent 500 - 600W PSU will be fine. How much are you looking to spend?

Preferably no more than £100, but I could stretch a bit.

The Asus Matrix requires two 8 pin connectors by the way, but I think I can just use 6 to 8 pin adaptors?

Also my motherboard has an 8 pin ATX connection.

Some of these benchmarks seem a bit close for comfort to 550w?

Also I neglected to mention I'll be doing some litecoin mining, which apparently is about as intensive as Furmark.

I can get the 650w Seasonic for a few £ more but I might be at <20% usage at idle.

Am I just being paranoid?

7970 Matrix Platinum overclocked that high can draw A LOT of power, especially if you need to put 1.35v through it.

Would advise looking at 600W at the very least.

You think a 650w Seasonic G-Series would be on the safe side?

Seasonic = Brilliant and 650W should cover a heavily overclocked 7970 Matrix Platinum without issues.

However, the XFX 850W XXX is a very good price at under £100: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-000-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2466

The 550W is more than enough. It is an under rated model and can provde more than 500W on the 12v rail alone. I dont understand why Rossi says 600W minimum because actually the Seasonic 650W can X-fire 7950's.
