Help Please - Looking for a cheap fast car for a friend

I know it's recommending my own car but a Saab 9-5 (or a 9-3) Aero is well over 200bhp, and good post 2003 ones can be picked up for less than £3k. My 2004 example owes me about that, including a full service and new rubber not long after buying it. It only costs me £300 to insure as well.

DannyW delivers again.

Can the mods apply a signature with a warning for anyone who's never experienced his threads before? Too many people wasting their time trying to spec cars for this numpty!!

I think that's the quickest thread creation to suspended outcome I have ever witnessed tho :p

I have more skills then you will ever have, your just a little pussy keyboard warrior, face to face you would wet your pants and run off

I agree with this sentiment Re: Maccy... :D (plz dnt ban)

On topic, what about a Celica GT4? Other than that, I'd be inclined to trust a shady EP3 Type-R or an RX-7. As Fox says, unless you're going Jap you're likely buying a world of problems (and for £3k, you're still probably buying problems).

Surprised nobody has chipped in with the old "triangle" rule so far.

Cheap, Reliable, Performance.

You can choose any 2, at the expense of the third.

If he's strapped to a £3k budget, (without knowing his circumstances) is he in the position to afford the potential running costs of a 200+bhp car?

That's the wrong triangle. Plenty of Japanese cars for example fit with your triangle for example.

The triangle which does hold true is Age/Cost/Prestige(Class), you can have two but not all three.
