Hey guys i'm currently thinking of buying a new system or upgrading but i'm not sure if its worth the money. What i currently have is a 2500k, 660 GTX ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen Intel Z68 and 8 gigs of Kingston Hyperx, do you think its worth upgrading to an i7 and 680? All i use my system for is gaming and nothing else.

Do as you please. Is your rig struggling with any games you play? Can you comfortably afford a new upgrade?

If you can afford it then why the hell not I say. Although don't get a 680, get yourself a 7970 instead. Or you could just upgrade your mobo to a Z77 and use VirtueMVP to get a nice boost in framerates.

I'd wait until the new series of intel cpu's and ati/nvidia gpu's but all comes down to how much surplus cash you have.

Wow i didn't think it was possible, Would you be able to recommend a simple to install CPU air fan instead of the water cooling one. I wouldn't feel comfortable installing a water cooler.

Seems like a complete and utter waste of time and money to me. For gaming a 3820 will make little or no difference over a 2500k. If you want some more performance overclock your 2500k. Why buy a k series cpu if you don't clock it? If you have a decent sized monitor then your best upgrade would be a new graphics card.

Agreed, the 2011 socket CPU's are still only Sandy based architecture and the 3820 is still a quad core. Does it have hyperthreading?

Best bet would be to uprade from the 660 to something like a 7950 and grab a big cooler like the K2 or the DH14 to overclock your 2500K.

Well I've got like 1,000 to play around with i'm debating what to do, Sometimes i feel like building a second system would be easier and a better choice. Then other times i feel like just buying a good case, better power supply and graphics card.

I have a similar system to you albeit, sli 560ti and see no need to change, even when Haswell comes out. My next upgrade will be a Gpu but at the moment I am happy with what I have.
But if you have a £1000 burning a hole in your pocket, then consider a new Gpu, case, an ssd if you don`t already have one and a decent cooler to OC the 2500k, as has already been mentioned.
