Hi all,

Stripping my system down tomorrow as its been water cooled for 3 years. Looking to get some new barbs and currently have danger den fatboy barbs but with danger den going under are there any equivalent barbs? Need to be 1/2 inch ones as I use 7/16 tubing with no clamps. Any help would be great,

RoEy

Thanks for the link. What's the quality like compared to the original fatboys though? Have you used both? They're quite a bit cheaper which isn't always a good thing.

Do I just keep my fatboys and get new O-Rings for them instead?

Just get new o-rings if the fittings are in good enough condition :)

The OcUK fatboy barbs are very good for the price.

Do you know where I can get some from that will fit my fatboys? OCUK only seem to have bitspower ones but are out of stock.

O-rings should be pretty much universal as its a standardised fitting.

ocuk fittings are fine you just paying for the brand name on the more expensive barbs.

This, at the end of the day your after a hunk of brass that's been hollowed out with a 1/2" bore hose tail on one end and a 1/4" BSP thread on the other, its industry standard stuff that was being used in plumbing since before CPU's needed heatsinks. The only difference with computer branded ones is nickel/copper/black paint coating and a fancy name.

Quick question, is it absolutely necessary to use hose clamps with 1/2" barbs and 7/16 tubing?

I've never used clamps of any kind with 7/16ID over 1/2 barbs, iirc this is the combination you get in OcUK's own WC kits, no clamps in those either :)

For compressions I always say bitspower or go home.

But barbs all look the same so you might as well get the cheap ones.

While I agree, it depends on loop size, I'd love to have gone all out bitspower, but in needing 16-18 fittings, thats pushing near £160 without angle fittings included. Quite happy having spent under £50 on the EK PSC fittings :)

I have used Bitspower in the past on a smaller loop, if you can afford it, certainly worth the price, brilliant fittings.

Cheers. Compression fittings are getting on my nerves, mainly with the awkwardness of unscrewing the cap off the stubborn ones...

I'm liking those BP stubby barbs. Any difference regarding clamps there?
I ask because there's a little less area for the tube to slide onto.

Then again, koolance clamps could look quite nice on there.
