hi guys,

just a quick one, i finally got round to building my new rig this weekend. the i5 is on a gigabye z77n-itx board with the h60v2 cooler.

im getting 35idle temps, which i know isnt too bad but my main concern was under prime 95 - i was hitting 70c after only 2 mins.

i have tried reseating the cpu cooler using artic silver paste and also mounted 2 x Bitfenix Spectre fans for a pull push configuration but still no luck. any ideas?

The H60 is not really a great cooler tbh. Either a h100 or Nice big air cooler would be better suited to that cpu especially if you intend to overclock it.

are you overclocked or stock?

I'm 4.5Ghz in 3570K @ 1.14v i get about the same temps on a H55 but I only have 1 push fan which came with the cooler. My fan, on the cooler, is connected to the CPU fan controller on my motherboard so I the RPM constantly changes depending how hot the CPU is.

also what are the static pressure of the Betfinex fans like? I thought they were more case fans rather than radiator?

how much cpu v is being used in cpu-z when you stress in prime95

auto will tend to use more than whats needed,

The H60 is good to replace a stock cooler and run at stock settings but when you start cranking up the volts they become over saturated quite quick. They have a very small surface area compared to other coolers.

Treat yourself to a D14 and you will have all the cooling you will need.

seems good for stock v,you could undervolt if you wanna try lowering stock temps,to do that you need to set cpu v to normal in the voltage list and it will unlock dvid(offset for adjustment) then try -0.005 or -0.010 to knock off that voltage from stock

I agree on the d14 or silver arrow air cooler, never been a fan of those watercooled units tbh

will a d14 fit in a bitfenix prodigy case?

I got one in using a Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe board.
