Baroness Thatcher in Hospital

RIP.

Whichever side of the fence you fall on with regard to her politics, it's worth bearing in mind that, along with Churchill and perhaps Attlee, she is one of very few British politicians of the last century to have made a significant impact to the country, and to have done what she believed right without flip-flopping to stay popular. She could teach current politicians on both the left and the right an awful lot.

Yep. Seeing a large number of similarly aged people around Facebook etc. enjoying their verbal celebratory dances to applaud the death of someone whose period in power they likely weren't even at an age to appreciate in a political sense, let alone even remember. Pretty weak if you ask me.

I wonder if German people born after WW2 feel that Hitler and his cronies had a negative impact on their life...even from so long ago.....

And before you all jump on me no I'm not comparing Thatcher to Hitler...just an example of how historic politics have impacts that last for a very long time

Hope the mods can claim overtime for all the work this bit of news is going to cause them :p

Doubt there was a more polarising character in Britain than Maggie has been, equally loved and loathed!

Personally I think she was a great leader of this country and got things done that needed to be done however unpopular they were. Had a lot more backbone than all the PM's we've had since then certainlly!

She wasn't perfect, she had her faults, she made mistakes, no human is perfect.
But, she had the balls, when they were needed.

RIP Maggy.

RIP Mrs. T. Will be a very long time before we have a national leader with the balls to do what what was needed in a given time.

I see what you mean. But equally valid is the examination that is not tainted by painful memories - kind of like how jurors aren't allowed to know the defendant etc. :)

True in a way.

Just thought. Can someone call Dolph to make sure he is ok :)
