My ns1000 which were ordered on 7/3/2013 have developed a massive crack down one side already and small crack on the other side, I am finally done with this ridiculous plastic quality they use.Going to contact superfi and demand a refund and suggest they stop stocking the brand.

Such a shame goldring cant change the plastic on these amazing sounding cans.

Anyhow just a warning to anyone do not buy them the quality is far far worse now my last pair lasted 2 years before any cracks appeared but these have a grand canyon esque crack after only a month.

Shall try and get a refund and order beyer dynamic dDT990 pros.

I shall no longer be recommending them or bigging them up at all the build quality is a joke it's like they are using kinder surprise egg plastic.

Well the old set of DT 990s I was given are plastic but as they've managed to last about 20 years so far I think it's fairly well made plastic :D

The part that holds the can to the headband looks like metal to me or is it plastic with brushed aluminum looks ? the fork shaped part

Depends which model you're talking about, the original DT 990s which I don't think are around anymore are of a plastic only construction pretty much. The current DT 990 pros seem to have the same metal parts that my MMX 300 headset has along with the DT 770s and 880s.
