oh please, TB complains about pretty much everything, whilst circle jerking with all his immature fans over esports or some other game hes been recently paid to promote. He is a spiteful individual that literally belittles the communities he claims to give a **** about.

I totally agree, it's not a 10/10 game I'd give it a 7 maybe 8. Looks amazing and the story line is the only thing keeping me at it. The gameplay and shooting is nothing new. I got sucked into all the hype, still it is a great game.

Agreed. Though the game doesn't deserve 10/10 (No game does) some of his comments just serve for him to play his precious devils advocate role. He's fun to watch, but I put zero stock in his opinion a lot of the time. I have Zero Punctuation for that xD
 
The gameplay mechanics are fairly standard stuff. But that is not what this game is all about. The game world and storyline make this game a cut above most others.

Anyone who disagrees can go back to playing COD modern warfare black ops 10 or whatever else generic rubbish is out there these days :p

Why doesn't any game deserve 10/10? That makes no sense, if you can't give a game 10/10 then 9/10 is the highest score possible, so it's no different to 10/10 in the first place.
 
To those who say the shooting is generic and boring... Can you list any games where the shooting is not generic or boring. So I know what we're pitching it against.
 
Yep, agree, otherwise you just have a scale of 1-9 rather than a scale of 1-10, as long as you accept that 10 doesn’t mean perfect as nothing is perfect.

I thought the combat was as good as anything else I’ve played recently, so would also be interested in which games I should check out that improve in this area. I thought combat was decent enough, sure BI didn’t make any real progress in this area, but it certainly certainly wasn’t bad.
 
I generally avoid most of TB's "WTF" videos on big titles because they always come off as him spending inordinate amounts of time trying to find ways to justify his own opinion as fact by scooting around actually saying anything concrete to keep up his facade of neutrality.

I actually watched this one and to some extent I agree, the shooting mechanics aren't amazing, however the way he talks about them just strikes me as incredibly entitled, he expects the game to be perfect and acts like the fact that it isn't is some kind of direct slight from the developers at everyone who plays the game.

It simply means it doesn't feel satisfying ie call of duty 2 etc doesn't feel satisfying to me whereas borderlands 1 and 2 or arma or countless other shooters I have enjoyed over the years do, it's got that horrible empty I'm just running about spraying at everything as best I can feel to it.And all the vigors feel weak and pointless.

There is no satisfaction killing enemies you are just volume shooting until they die and which gun you use doesn't even feel like it matters, best way I can describe what I mean is it feels like a serious sam or painkiller game.

I guess generic can just mean arcadey style shooter then as for me that's exactly what it feels like it feels like call of bioshock 3 black ops.

It's bland there's no character to the guns or gunplay it's just go to area spray everything until it dies open crates for food etc rinse repeat.

When I use zoom on the carbine to shoot a baddies head more often than not they are decapitated (or at least i knock their hat off). If I use overkill then their mates get an electric shock into the bargain...meaning I can sometimes shoot them in the head too!

I'll try not zooming and just shooting in their general direction to see if I can replicate the volume shooting / spraying / arcadey behaviour.

Will report back with my findings ;-)

It sounds to me more like personal choice though...

I have to say that in no way could I say this played like COD where you just point a gun at something and keep shooting until 3 million people are dead.

In Bioshock I was possessing people to sew confusion and using charge to fly across the map at them, using shock jockey to stun turrets and bronco to levitate everyone and take them out of the sky. Definitely can't see how that compares to the bland COD series at all.

I also enjoyed popping caps in people's heads with the carbine and finding good gear to shock enemies when they attacked me etc... It has quite a bit of depth, I feel that if you played the game like you would play cod then you were not experiencing all it had to offer.

The only criticism I would level at the shooting really is that there were quite a few more powerful enemies which took too much of a beating and there wasn't a lot really designed around them except to use possession. And as pointed out "boss fights" were a bit out of place.

I'm not saying the shooting is "teh best evar" or that it's "FPS 2.0" or anything but I definitely would not call it generic, bland or boring. I found it as satisfying if not more than any game I had played in a long time. Also not really sure how it differs from Borderlands all that much.

The graphics story presentation production values are a la carte the gameplay is a pot noodle.

+1 some people get way to excited about this game its well made & highly polished but underneath it all just another alternate take on the FPS mechanic. The ending is superb though but in a few months it will be forgotten about gameplay wise for sure its a one play though only unless you must earn all achvs on another playthru.

TB is right on the money here & pretty fair about the game just shows you how most of the online reviews are paid for or bribed in some other way nowadays to give only positive reviews :rolleyes:

It seems like our opinions on pot noodles are as disparate as our opinions on games. I would probably say the gameplay was more like marmite.
